I know, been a while, well it had to happen someday, I explore everything now and I'm having fun, whats the point of sticking to one or two genre's when there are such phenomenal musicians and music out there, as a fan I shouldn't be blindsided by what I like the most. Anyways, in touch with any of the guys from TXN? I'm looking for Thomas's contact, any help?

Can you help me vote this up? http://www.last.fm/music/Brendan+Perry/+images/77324454

Yep it was always captivating, fairly much in the same ilk as a Godspeed or ASMZ album. Quite different of course, though a couple of songs reminded me of the latter. Going to get their other album too for sure.

Listening to that *Shels album again, fuck it's good. It's like a perfect combination of fairly much every major post-rock band on the planet. I even went and bought the flac version, now I don't do that too often :P

Apologies for the very belated reply. As my absence from GMD may have indicated, I have been quite busy of late :/ Cheers for the rec, shall check out when I get home from work in a few hours :P

Ye, I still await any glorious recommendations you have relating to Tuesday night's proceedings. I wait, I sleep, I drink, and I shall do so patiently and blissfully. :P Having hardly being present for these two nights gone past, jogging your memory was not something I was able to do!

Getting used to that wondrous voice took a long damn while, but my golly was it worth it. I remember hating it before you insisted I persisted. But yes, definitely after stuff in the mold of what was mentioned on GMD tonight, pass along your usually excellent excellent recs if you do indeed have any. :p

Hey, just wonderin', have you ever listened to this:? http://www.last.fm/music/Efrim+Manuel+Menuck/plays+%22High+Gospel%22 Efrim of Godspeed and Mt. Zion's solo album. Definitely closer to the latter though than the former. It's great, but a tad unorthodox, kind of like most things related to his music :P

I'll give him a listen for sure. Far more compelled to check Mr Perry out than would be the case whenever someone recommends a metal band that will likely sound like another metal band. I reckon whenever someone recs a metal band these days, there is about a 2-3 percent chance I'll give the album more than one listen. I'll probably browse your library on here and see what I can find :P

I've thought about that very thing, and I think I will. I will always love my prog metal stalwarts though, but other than that, I think it will be quite similar. So much music out there, can't understand some people restricting themselves to one genre (metalheads are especially bad at this) I don't understand how people in metal could enjoy or applaud something that sounds exactly like something else. For example, if I want to listen to Emperor, I won't listen to a band that sounds like Emperor, I'll listen to fucking Emperor. For me to enjoy a band, it has to provide something that other bands don't, and most metal bands don't do that these days.

Even I've been going a bit towards that realm lately, being listening to a bit of ambient stuff and trip hop like Massive Attack and Portishead. I struggle to come across new metal bands that truly captivate me these days, most are just unoriginal, bland copies of other better bands which I already listen to .

Got it all ready, saving it for when I'm in that Soft Black Metal kinda mood. Thrash and Death tonight I think after finishing all that work :P

It'd be fairly short odds for album of the year I'd say, can't wait for it. And I hope I can catch them for their tour this time around :P . How's new Psycroptic? I haven't even bothered with it, don't think I will unless I receive a compelling reason to do so :P

I'm still here :P That is one of my favourite ever songs. The emotion in that song is rivalled by very few. It has a little bit of Godspeed in it too, before Godspeed's time it must be said.

Couldn't help it this time, my last account got fired down and I couldn't scrobble :/ Hopefully this one will be for keeps. Oh, check the metal thread, posted something you may like.

It was. I got into a conversation and I may end up getting an it job here at campus if I pull it off. I think I have it on my old hard drive if I can find it lying around somewhere.

Yeah I agree with that actually. The first few songs were fairly crushing, but somehow not all that distinguishable or memorable. Not sure what score I will give it in my journal yet though. Quite a few concerts coming up for you I noticed. Very bleak over here in terms of gigs at the moment...

Yep, DOS attack I think :/ . It is a bit hard not being able to go on Whirlpool and check the metal thread, feels a bit odd tbh. Ulcerate was fairly good on first listen, will give another tonight sometime, perhaps while I do some more packing :p The self titled track was brilliant imo.
