Well, that’s a very good gift. DsO’s vinyls are much more detailed, artwork-wise, than their normal digipacks, and they give a unique perspective on the band. When I got my Kenôse reissue I was surprised to see just how much different it was... tons of additional illustrations.

I think this was one of those albums I quite.... judged prematurely. I’m very skeptic of everything tagged as “atmospheric black metal” because it bores me . I’ll listen to it and let you know my opinion.

whiel last.fm takes your Svartidaudi scrobbles as such, and shows it as such in the history, it will correctly add it to your Svartidauði playcount. it's a bit odd. i've never bothered to set up a scrobbler for bandcamp and still i only have Svartidauði scrobbles, and none for Svartidaudi. i thought you might wanna know.

Yeah it’s indeed strange. The artist is tracked with its correct name, but the album “Revelations of the Red Sword” is scrobbled as a different one! Spotify is really hit or miss sometimes...

It’s a bit of a mix between all their previous albums, so I’m not disappointed. There are some truly memorable parts indeed. Are you digging it?

Yeah, unfortunately we can’t really speculate about that, DsO only releases updates through Norma Evangelium Diaboli. Three years have passed since Synarchy and I’m hungry for new material. I wouldn’t mind if they dropped a 20+ minutes EP considering the last one was released in 2011.

Sorry for late reply. I’m pretty picky when it comes to choosing a “best of...” list but I’m fairly sure these would end up in mine: Portal, Chaos Invocation, Funeral Mist, Cultes des Ghoules, possibly the new Peste Noire (soon to be released), Autokrator, Abhor, Sepulcher, Sargeist, Satan, Imperial Triumphant, Hyperdontia and a bunch of others I certainly forgot to mention. House of Atreus released some solid af melodeath too. I heavily suggest it if you are into Arghoslent’s riffing style

I’ve always been a fan of the official Little Einsteins OST, so it seems our tastes are profoundly different.

Everything released by them is amazing, but the Chaining the Katechon EP really holds a special place in my heart. Do you have a favorite too?

AnimeIsGay
agree, all their records are amazing in so many ways but Chaining the Katechon is definitely one of the best songs ever, crafting a 22 minute song that constantly shifts and changes into a lot of influences without deviating into their main style is highly admirable. Without a doubt, the best production that Deathspell Omega has ever achieved... but I can't decide between Drought and Chaining the Katechon yet

Drought is definetely their most accessible/experimental album, I find it hard to even call it “black metal” as it is, though it’s no short of awesome moments. The Crackled Book of Life has a really sweet solo towards the end, which perfectly concludes the EP

It's a genre I need to explore better, but I already enjoy stuff like Black Flag, Discharge and The Expolited. Any suggestion?
