Yeah, they're righteous - their 2013 album, Light of the Wreckers (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bFFSa-3eKlM), which I meant to bring as well, is even better!

Been exploring a lot of killer Polish and Russian black metal lately. Try Plaga or Worsen (USBM) for excellent Mgła worship. Also Сивый Яр for something akin to Drudkh, Burzum, Moonsorrow even.

If you want the full metal experience, I would suggest Exit (just for drinks and metal), Revolution Brewing, Lockdown, Twisted Spoke, and let's see -- there's pinball at Emporium, Bottom Lounge, Delilah's, Headquarters Beercade. Hmmm... what else... What kind of things are you looking to do in Chicago?

Thank you for the contributed bands to the 'Blackened Thrash Metal' group. Manzer, Evil Shepherd and Slutvomit are already connected. I'm really wondered that Manzer was not on the list. Do you know more bands on the same line of style? Any other good contribution will be apprecated.

I have spun older Sirenia materials and didnt feel too impressed. But there is something definitely different about this record. In my opinion, there are some slight faults in the production. But, this record is growing on me with each spin and I am thinking its one of the best I have heard this year so far.

I dunno, we'll see. None of the names I've seen posted for the next few months are enough to convince me to spend my money, but maybe I'll splurge just for the chance to "get in the fight" again. Or maybe El Corazon will sign someone that will please a little blinder-wearing elitist like me!

I've been hunting for my next show, but nothing I've found appeals to me. You appear to always be going to shows- what are your next few?

It was great! Ensiferum stole the show for me (and were my primary reason for going), but I was also impressed by Heidevolk and Trollfest. Tyr is one of my favourite bands, but I thought they came off a little stale that night, and (though not their fault) the shitty audio mixing really hurt the set. That being said, Regin Smidur, The Lay of Thrym, HTHHH, and Ramund Hin Unge were all fantastic. Should've come hung out in front! Also, I'm typing this sitting next to Petri Lindroos's guitar pick. Just sayin'.

cool, Seattle!... it's definitely in my top 10 places I have to see! you lucky b@$&@#%! though lately almost everybody's sayin' that the US of A is not "heaven on Earth" anymore... but there are some places that have that "je ne sais quoi" n' I think Seattle is one of those places, no matter what! so, again, \m/ :) the first time i meant your library

Hey, thanks for the offer, but my brother lives in Seattle so I might sleep in his bomb shelter. (His house literally has a bomb shelter built into the bottom floor) I'm thinking of organizing a mini afterparty with the guys I'm going with, something along the lines of fawning over the fact that we just saw Ensiferum and Tyr while drinking mead and talking about how lame real life is. If it ends up seeming realistic, I'll let you know as you're definitely invited if interested.

A list of some good stuff would be muchos appreciated! Haha, I've heard about the traffic during the rain. My girlfriend is from Seattle, hence the move, so she's told me a lot about how everyone loses their shit in traffic the second the rain kicks in. But yeah, whatever you can tell me about bands and shit would be great. I'm not much of a gig goer just because there rarely bands I like playing around and stuff but that's Ireland for you. And most gigs around Winnipeg have been mostly shitty deathcore bands since I moved here. So it makes my metal boner droop.

That's awesome! I have a friend who saw them (Wintersun) in Oregon and ended up drinking with them on their bus, and he said the same thing- really nice guys, genuinely excited about the tour. I like bands like that, it's annoying when they run and hide and brush off their fans, even if only one or two are trying to talk to them (obviously it's understandable if there's a horde). That's cool about Varg, too- I still haven't listened to a single track of theirs, but one of these days I'll give my 5 Band Exclusivity a break and try them out. It's a shame I couldn't make it, but I'm glad you were able to make a good time out of the tickets!

Yeah, I saw that- I'l still be there for sure! Ensiferum and Tyr are fine by me, and hopefully the other bands can earn my favor at the show.
