Do you have suggestions for metal bands that sound like Saint vitus or has that really heavy and dreadful atmosphere.

Well Pentagram or the Obessed kind of sound like Saint Vitus but the atmosphere is quite different imo. Troubles Psalm9 has some of that dreadful atmosphere but its not as heavy. Closest to are probably slower Black Flag songs like Nothing left inside. Dreadful and heavy doom in general i usually go for Celtic Frosts Monotheist or straight funeral doom like Ahab - Call of the Wretched Sea or Esoteric The Maniacal Vale.

Obsessed has Wino who sang for Saint Vitus so that was good. I also decided to listen to Black Sabbath. I’ve heard songs like Iron Man hundreds of times but it’s still good. Especially their lesser known albums.

What do you use to scrobble music if you don't use spotify. I had trouble trying to connect it to anything else before so I just stuck with open scrobbler

On pc im using a heavily modded foobar + lastfm scrobbler. On android im using poweramp + scrooball i think. Havent had any troubles scrobbling in years which is rare.

Every mornin' at the mine you could see him arrive He stood six-foot-six and weighed two-forty-five Kinda broad at the shoulder and narrow at the hip And everybody knew ya didn't give no lip to big John (Big John, big John) Big bad John (big John) Nobody seemed to know where John called home He just drifted into town and stayed all alone He didn't say much, kinda quiet and shy And if you spoke at all, you just said, "Hi" to Big John Somebody said he came from New Orleans Where he got in a fight over a Cajun Queen And a crashin' blow from a huge right hand Sent a Louisiana fellow to the promised land, big John (Big John, big John) Big bad

That sucks man. I feel very lucky to have been able to see as many shows as i did! Id totally make the trip for Maryland Deathfest tho best Lineups ive seen at any festival ever. Not for one Band tho that would be insane haha How far would you be willing to travel for a No Doubt reuinion? :D Ill check that record out once im in my next 90s phase. Last time i got big into Avril Lavigne for some reason.

My guitar teacher’s favorite band is the black crowes and he went to see them multiple times when they reunited a few years back. Metallica would be a band my dad and I would love to see and. He actually got us tickets to see gnr in September. Issue with Metallica is that their tickets are overpriced as hell and the dates this tour are too far. They came to Louisville back in 2019 for their hardwired tour which was only 2 hours away but I didn’t listen to Metallica enough then to be interested.

Were i live there is a big race track that has Festivals all the time but i didnt go in 2019. Plus shelling out 200€ for a show with shitty support acts is not really my thing. I payed 70€ for Sabbath in Frankfurt with great support acts. Some of these prices are just crazy. Also its just old dudes there and i like to mosh so.. Metallica were my in when it comes to heavier stuff. Them, Slayer, Death and Autopsy. Saw Slayer twice, cant see Death no more and will check out Autopsy hopefully when they come back to Germany. But eh if your Dad pays for the tickets you should def go. Even tho my dad is getting old he got into Iron Maiden recently haha.

My dad doesn’t like Iron Maiden. He likes Metallica and Megadeth, bands he grew up with. He’s seen Motley Crue and Aerosmith live and we went to see ZZ Top in 2021 which was awesome. I also saw seether with three doors down that year and those are the only 2 concerts I have been to so far. When I get my full license to drive hopefully I can look more into metal concerts. There is a panopticon concert in louisville in may I know of but I’m pretty sure I’ll be somewhere else when it happens. There’s really only options to go see metalcore bands other than that currently and I haven’t listened to any of those bands in years.

My dad tried to turn me onto Pink Floyd so badly but it never worked. Got into Dire Straits instead. He had a tape of them when i was like 6 so he got me into music after all. First thing i did when i got my license was driving to festival like a week after so youre on the right track here my man. Imo small shows are the best much more memorable and intimate. I remember panopticon but the only folky type bm i got into was Alda. Theyre kinda similar but not as folky. Saw them actually and they were great. Drunk but great. Metalcore used to be cool but now it just sounds like dubstep imo. I think im too old for that stuff now haha.

My mom played me music when she was pregnant with me. That’s why my grandma thinks I like music so much but I got into music all by myself stemming all from The Who when I discovered the song Pinball Wizard. I loved that song so much. My dad had introduced me to Megadeth and the song sweating bullets around that time and they sounded strange to me. I also heard the song I cum blood and cannibal corpse for the first time by this one girl I went to school with at that time and that was kinda funny in retrospect. Eventually I discovered Metallica and settled on Kill Em All as my favorite album of there’s and then took a dive into all sorts of metal.

It was Kill em All for me too. Some dude i knew in a Church of all places burned it on a dvd with some other stuff like nirvana and that was it for me. I liked heavier stuff like scorpions/bon jovi growing up but i didnt know metal was a thing then. i always danced around with a broken acoustic guitar in first grade thinking guitar solos are the best thing ever. remember going through record collections of people i know randomly "borrowing" stuff based on the cover and track titles. in hindsight scorpions - another piece of meat was probably the song that got me into metal but i was 6 and had no clue haha. its interesting how people that discover music by themselves are usually the ones that stick to it. if someone wouldve tried to played me megadeath then i think id have hated it! now i dont love megadeath today but i think theyre ok. not the same ballpark as metallica tho.. not even close hehe

I was never very much into megadeth even when I got into metal. I only really liked their song peace sells and a few other songs. The song that single handedly pushed me towards metal was probably Heart’s song Barracuda. They were the second band I got very into after The Who and from there I started liking Black Sabbath and Metallica. All of this was from listening to the radio still. I had a few mp3s of my favorite songs then but once I went beyond only songs I heard on the radio I started buying CDs. The first album I ever bought was 1984 by Van Halen.

My first Metal song was Another Piece of Meat by the Scorpions. I dont think i was aware of distorted guitars before that changed how i viewed music instantly Funny enough this dude i knew from church had burned me all the early Metallica records on a dvd and that kicked of my taste for real heavy music. Those and Slayer got me into Celtic Frost but also Death Metal and then later Black Metal. Sabbath i listened to but in my mind that wasnt Metal but classic rock. German radio in the 90s wasnt heavy at all they just played Take on me over and over again LOL. Atleast i got into wave music thru radio cos everything in Germany is like 5 years behind the US culture wise. Heart are really good. The first time i heard Rainbow Annie was weird cos i had heard alot of the songs in TV commercials for music compilations. So i knew like 7 seconds snippets of so many cool songs but i had no way of actually listening to them until i was much older. Im still discovering some of those Bands :D

Same for me regarding Amesoeurs. I saw Alcest like 10 years ago and it was good and all but i always felt something was missing. Same goes for Les discrets too. Its good but Amesours was magic and im still pissed they ended in such a way. Fucking Famine i blame him and his pathetic cringe band.

I bet! Im more of a strat guy myself and i just broke the neck of my Les Paul (Gibson is so cheap lol) so im stuck to playing Hendrix songs. Cant say im surprised that these type of Bands always fall apart. Comes with the territory probably but still a bummer. Regarding similar bands i liked Beastmilk! They didnt have those BM vibes but the first tape releases were kinda similar and just as good imo. Also the devils blood of course. Both arent shoegazey in the typical sense but def very atmospheric!

I'm curious to know what you'd think of my friends' band, MANKIND. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bedN-v9QMwc They are actually coming to Germany for a tour pretty soon. The dates and places are on their facebook page! Cheers from Sweden
