Hmm, thinking about it, I think that Third is the one I like best, but I like all of it really, I just have a preference for the horns, or the quirkiness of the first couple of albums. I see you've got quite a few listens to 'Friday on my Mind', which is, as the young folks say, a 'tune'!

Hello Raggleman, I saw a shout you left a couple of years ago on a Soft Machine track. Did you get to hear the second album yet? Although it took me a long while to get past that album and into the later recordings (I still don't like their music with widdly guitars, I prefer the sound of the horns in their music) it's still my favourite of theirs. Short songs connected by sometimes fairly freeform interludes, in a not dissimilar way to the 'cut-up' feel of some of Zappa/Mothers early records, give each side of the LP almost a suite-like feel. Anyway, happy listening whatever you are listening to. Cheers, Bob

no problem, Raggleman - I don't use the f'riend' thing for friendship (if that makes sense!) - I use it to listen to other peoples music by playing 'friends radio' - I have found some great stuff by that method.

Great news about the Stones playing Glastonbury. Last saw them in the 60's when Brian Jones was still with us !! This years line-up is not too bad with a bit of everything for everybody. I'm doing the Cinema field again. My crew get there the preceding week and construct the stage etc prior to the projectionists arriving. We then get to see all the bands, hitch is cool. Are you doing any festivals or promotions this year ?? Cheers4now.

Many thanks for friendship--we send warmest greetings from the Upper Valley! Always happy to make a connection, however small, in this crazy universe we find ourselves in. Please feel free to get in touch anytime you feel like it. Indeed, we love Amon Duul 2, an extremely important band for sure.

Kirky on a flying visit. Hope all is well you and yours. I'm still working away at present and have just returned to Tyneside after a 3 week stint. Me and the family are away to Scotland for hols AND it's going to be sunny !!! Hope the gigs are going well. I've not managed many this year, but, stand out for me was the Ozrics...still awesome and getting better !! Take care.

Cheers for the festy info. Dorset sounds good but may be a bit too far for me. I'll probably do Sonisphere and a few small ones this year..... I've been listening to "Nothing is Ordinary" by Omnia Opera recently. Brilliant album. My spies reckon they will be turning up unexpectedly at various gigs this year. I will keep my ears to the ground. Cheers4now.

Kirky passing through with a cheery wave...how's things in the beautiful south ?? As there is no Glasto this year I'm looking for some smaller festivals. I'll probably be going to Sonic Rock but I'd appreciate any suggestions that you might have. Cheers.

Hi RM, No problem, it makes little difference anyway does it ? Looking at your charts you have set me a challenge :), its a bit like teaching my Grandmother to suck eggs suggesting something to you, but.... If you like the Felice Brothers can I suggest The Low Anthem ? I can't see them on your profile, either Smart Flesh or Oh my God Charlie Darwin are both good albums and I think you might like them. With Regard to the Felice Bros.. the jury is still out for me on their latest offering, Celebration Florida. If you were thinking more along the classic Rock style then can I suggest a young US band Radio Moscow. Cheers, Andy

Yeah, seriously, I am a big fan of Jimi as well as Stevie. Hendrix did so much to change the landscape of rock music!! I, also, really like his "Blues" album! Great cuts and a master at work!! Of course, I, also, have everything that Stevie and his estate have released except "Blues at Sunrise". His fourth album release and his "Sessions" album with Albert King are two of my favorites. q;o]

Hey, RAGGLEMAN!! We have a 'super' level of song and music style compability, so I thought you wouldn't mind if I disagree that SRV can't tackle Hendrix with as much 'fluidity and power' and Hendrix!! On this track and Voodoo Chile, Slight Return, I think SRV is just as strong and clean as Jimi. In fact, I have felt for a long time that SRV does 'Slight Return' even better than Jimi; probably because he had all the time he needed to practice on it before recording it. Hey, hope you and I can share shouts and our 'tastes' in artists and songs!! q:o] Larry Rich

You said re: OP playing Wheatland: "That is one beautiful tune....right there. The chords and chord progressions are plucked from a balmy southern evening and gently rocked as the sun sets over wheatland all red, gold and blue.....ah yes, always blue." beautiful words for a beautiful recording by a master musician...thanks...Jazzy
