I've had an acoustic guitar for years but I've only picked it up a couple of times. I probably wouldn't have the patience to learn to play more than a few chords anyway. I completely missed Supermassive last year (this is its second year), Friday's lineup was in hindsight pretty amazing (Circle, Arktau Eos, Hebosagil, Sink, etc.). This year I'll definitely go for at least one day to catch Tim Hecker and hopefully Earthless, too, if they play on the same day. You moving to Finland to study? The autumn semester always begins in September so I assumed that may be the case. Hopefully your stay will be pleasant :)

The Abominable Iron Sloth :) Nice charts overall. Both of the Molasses EPs you have in Bandcamp are pretty great.

Haha! Signed up for a paid for Spotify account so thought I'd make a new one of these to go with it, but I'm not promising I'm going to use it! :-p

ow you don't like Eat the Low Dogs? i found that one spectacular :) maybe the band just isn;t for you then. you can try The Valley Path which is a one-track long album with more jam parts and calmer passages. ambient drone: try Troum, i especially dig their one-track releases such as Shutûn, Grote Mandrenke and Mare Idiophonika

Switzerland didn't end well put bluntly. company didn't get any orders anymore and was forced to kick out 80% of its employees, which included me. oh well, looking for a new job close to home now. yeah, i definitely prefer Night Terror over Weatherhead. the latter lacks punch imo. i don't think i ever listened to Lozen tbh. never heard of that Impulse Fest, but good luck with the band of course. if you can play around your home town, or even throughout your country, fantastic! and you're already going abroad. good going i say

oh? what fest did you play at in Belgium then? surprised to hear UK promoters/bookies are asses. you normally hear them complain about artists being demanding and untrustworthy people :) all is ok here, have some more time on hand. i'm back in home in NL, after the whole Switzerland thing. have fun in uni.

Incubate still has to start man! the main 3 days are 14, 15 and 16 Sept. still in doubt whether i'll go or not. also depends if i'm in NL. an 18-day course does sound a bit tedious but i hate hate hate even the slightest form of educational services so hey. Helsinki was boring? man, you should have done some pre-study on what the cool places were there.

wuh, you're already in Finland right now? that went fast! how long is that course gonna take? and to be honest right now i'm not so sure if i can and will go to Incubate after all. both my friend are currently entwined in job issues and we'll have to see what comes of that. i probably have to move again in september/october sigh

John Dowland is a good place to start, British lutenist. Quite melancholy, you could call him the doom metal of the Elizabethan court! Joan Ambrosio Dalza and Vincenzo Capirola and Francesco Spinacino are good examples of Venetian Renaissance stuff, and Sylvius Leopold Weiss was pretty good German late Baroque stuff. And by pretty good, he and Bach used to jam together. Also, Bach wrote a bunch of lute stuff, too. This is a great Dalza piece: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mva5GplGZ28 Enjoy! :-D

Will do. In the end, I got past Destroyer 666's name and it was totally worth it. Currently staring down my work and listening to the soundtrack from Once Upon a Time in the West. Epic film, epic soundtrack! :-) Have you listened to any lute music yet?

Yeah, I got much love for Farflung, though my iPod doesn't sync properly. It usually doesn't sync at all, then last week it told Last that I'd listened to "A Wound in Eternity" like, 30 times. Which in all, I probably have and don't mind, it's just that it makes it look like that's all I listen to. And yeah, the lute music is good! I wish I had a lute. :-(
