Hey! Thank you for that! They seem like they'd be really fun to see; I always like recordings where I can imagine distinct images what the band in question would FEEL like live. I've been ok aside from being so bored I'm contemplating actually taking up yoga or frozen yogurt or doing yoga while eating frozen yogurt or whatever people are suggesting to ward of depressive ennui nowadays. I'm trying to think of recent Canadian indie rock to recommend in return; dunno if you've heard of the band Ought but their album from last year ("More Than Any Other Day") is short and kind of cool in a weird-conversations-you've-had-at-parties-with-Talking-Heads-playing in the background kind of way. I similarly heard about them through vague friend connections to the band because I am also out of touch with contemporary society (or it is out of touch with me). Hope you're well & luv u 2. I said hi to a snowman but in typical fashion he pretended not to know who I was or what I was talking about.

I think the suggested serving size should be one song at a time though. After eleven tracks straight even_I'M_like "this is a BIT MUCH guise. My tastebuds are completely saturated with twee and I don't think that's very safe."

Dunno if you've already heard/dismissed it, but the new Allo Darlin' cd rom has some nice songs on it imo. I'm probably going to start a twee pop album trading club called "No Criticizing What's Corny: Bed Wetting Music For Losers Who Want Songs That Are A Perfect Mixture of Idealistic Escapism & Sincere Expressions of Real Life" (working title) though.

I was recently told that I'm good at describing things. Also, I only really wear lipstick for the (mac de) mark(o) it leaves on my cigarettes so in my mind you smoked lipstick viceroys with Mac at some point in your story and don't tell me otherwise. Hope you're having a good September Friday and ily.

Also, I've always thought that Mac DeMarco could be physically described as "An exactly equal mixture of both Uncle Jesse and Uncle Joey from Full House" so the fact that you kissed him must indicate something about the strength of your music reviewing abilities and honestly your overall character as a human being.

I don't think your reviews are embarrassing at all, but I have days where I deeply regret my entire documented internet existence and have always cringed reading anything I've ever written about anything ever (like..."eugh, I can't believe how stupid I sound in this fourth grade book report! What a juvenile interpretation of Anne of Green Gables!") so I feel you.

Lul, they probably did. Must have been a girlfriend I was secretly planning on dumping anyway though because I don’t think I actively abhor them the same way you do and am just thoroughly apathetic. I’ve always classified them as a “Big Indie Band” that OTHER people care about and I can’t get over the idea that they just aren’t intended for me. Like “Interpol? That ain’t what I do. That ain't who I am. I have no use for this. There’s something wrong here I do not belong here.” A few months ago I was on the guest list at a festival they were semi-headlining and I was indescribably relieved when virtually everyone else I was with was like “lmao idgaf about the inter & the pols either, let’s SPLIT and go get drunk for non-music festival prices.” Maybe if they’d been a “formative” band for me at sixteen my whole life and personality would be drastically different though. I play that game with a lot of trivial things.

Ahh, that's so cool & great & I am very happy for you! I went to see Mac Demarco a few years ago and was there for a very crowded nxne set he did at Yonge & Dundas square, but I was very drunk at both if I recall correctly (I'm basically "One more cocktail/Is it a good time?/Or is it highly inappropriate?" personified). I've liked a few albums a lot from this year but aside Burn Your Fire For No Witness, Alvvways is one of the only ones that's resonated with me a lot to the point of wanting to compulsively listen to it. I def feel you on basically knowing what you like at this point; I've noticed I consume music differently (not in a bad way per se, but with more concentration and in a way that feels more personal) and just don't especially care about hearing absolutely everything right away anymore. Most of the bands I obsess over/hold ultra dear to my heart at this point were at their peak in the eighties/nineties. I still stalk your rym account and totally agree about Interpol btw.

Abstract eggspressionism is cool though. Btw you MIGHT like this hip new hot n' edgy band called Alvvays. They're admittedly kind of "derivative" but I always feel a bit concerned for people who expect twee pop bands to be reinventing the wheel.

Great taste. :). I only recently discovered Part 1 of 69 Love Songs and was absolutely blown away. Can't wait to get my teeth into it properly.

Tbf, Triffid albums seem to be growers (for me anyway) so low original ratings that slowly become high is hardly unusually. Just don't write your review until a few listeners! (Desperately hoping this 'grower' trend proves true with Calenture which I can't really get into to yet - that production ekk. Do have the original though, hopefully that's a bit better with the re-issue)

I've managed to find a mediafire link for 'The Short and Sick Of It' - long and short of it + take a sickie EP put together - and the reviews on rym seem to confirm the version I'm looking for is on it. Thanks for, uh, nothing ;-) Speaking of rym, I see your reviews all the time and I seem to disagree with pretty much all of them. In particular your In The Pines one! It's just as good as BSD. That said, I've only got the re-issue, maybe you reviewed the original.

It says I've received a new shout, yet when I looked in my shoutbox, it was just the same ol' same ol'. Whoever left a shout must have deleted it before I could see it. SHOW YOURSELF, YOU COWARD!

yo bro you seem like a Tall Dwarfs fanatic so I want your help in finding a version of Nothing’s Going to Happen different to the one on ' Hello Cruel World'. 30 seconds of it can be found Here. Now I can't for the life of me find it in full. I'm thinking it's on That's the Long and the Short of It...but I can't find that anywhere either. So yeah I'm just wondering if the version I'm looking for is indeed on the That's the Long and the Short of It. thx.
