Merry Christmas! I finally listened to the majority of The Cure's discography up to Disintegration. You weren't lying when you said that Disintegration blew the other albums out of the water. The atmosphere on this album is unmatched. I also liked Kiss Me Kiss Me Kiss Me and the song "A Forest". Thank you for putting me on! :))

Thank you for putting me back onto New Order. I haven't tapped back into The Cure yet, but I'm sure I'll enjoy them too.

from new order i would recommend power corruption and lies. it provides an interesting blend of synth and guitar that well compliments the many different emotions packed into the album's lyricism due to the complicated situation the band was in at the time. substance is also good if you just want a general feel of their style. the cure is a bit more complicated. disintegration is by far the band's magnum opus, so you can definitely go for that if you'd like, but i'd recommend hearing some of their stuff from before then first as disintegration is kind of a blend of the darker style they started out with and the more energetic pop sound they had been doing right before then. for their darker post-punk/goth stuff i'd recommend starting with seventeen seconds first, and if you enjoy that giving the two albums proceeding it (faith and pornography) a try. for their pop stuff i'd recommend starting with either japanese wispers or kiss me kiss me kiss me.

Thank you for the thorough response! Will check them out, starting with New Order since I liked Joy Division.

Turns out I already listened to Power Corruption and Lies. I'll listen to Substance though. I'll save Disintegration for after I listen to The Cure's works prior. If you want any recs from me, let me know!
