I have been wanting to hear Hooverphonic for so damn long. What do you recommend for me to start with?

Answering the question whether there is something like authentic music seems to reflect a fundamental ambivalence. On one hand there are people who demonstrating their personal favorite music as "authentic"; on the other hand the social context, the traditional, the cultural background, is called "authentic". Ultimately, there will probably not be an unequivocal answer.

Hey, good to hear from you once again. It has been quite some time! I'll check out Rishloo; thank you for the recommendation! Can't think of any suggestions to send your way at the moment, but I'll let you know if something pops into my head. How's life?

This Yggdrasil album is amazing so far. I feel like I've heard them before but forgot about them. Nevertheless, thanks for (re?)introducing me to them! It's rare that recommendations on here result in an instant love for the artist! Probably because they are pretty Shpongley :P

Hello again! Now I've listened those you recommended, didn't really like but that's what recommending sometimes is. Thank you :)

Hey, nice to meet you :) I'm not great at classifying electronica, either... I suppose I listen to a fair amount of trance, although most of it is psytrance (shpongle, of course) and i also listen to a bunch of ambient, downtempo, and trip hop. shpongle has always been my favorite by far. there really isn't much out there like it. i'd try out entheogenic... they are similar but still can't trump shpongle :P i think that you'd like beats antique, too, if you haven't heard them... although they aren't really psytrance.. not sure how to classify them! world musicky... good stuff. try the album "blind threshold." you would probably like infected mushroom if you haven't heard them before. they are psytrancy, but less mellow than shpongle. "vicious delicious" is a good album. try those out.. i hope that you like them! :)

thanks man! unfortunately that album helped almost single-handedly...and it's been about a year and a half since then. the song "Enter Dog of Pavlov" specifically...i remember listening to it thinking about things and realizing i should break it off before it really fucked me up! very empowering song and album. glad someone commiserates with me.

Another recommendation, this time Finnish jazz! Auteur Jazz - Cunning Album. Can be found at least on Spotify, if it works there.

Thanks for the more recommends! :) And thanks for the wishes too, hope you'll find some new music too! Tip: Karen Elson's The Ghost Who Walks is a great album, just found it. It's beautiful and a little bit odd and it fascinates me. It's folkish but it's more towards alternative (pop folk).

Thanks for your long list! I'll listen to them when I have time. Though I must have to say that Marshal Mathers is Eminem's best, not the worst :) Merry christmas and a happy new year my friend! :)

Hmmm at least I've always tried to get into jazz/blues/soul etc. but they seem to be either plastic (nowadays) or boring or there's too much noise for my liking. I've listened some good songs though and I even own a John Coltrane album :) It's just so hard to find something from that genre that I would love the whole album, so far they've been only separate tracks. And I'd really like if I'd find some good stuff from rap/hip hop genre too, and classical is propably a genre I've got the least scrobblings. And it would be nice if I could find more good world music too :)

Thanks bud, you have some awesome tastes too! I hate it when people ask me what type of music listen to, because as my profile shows that it is impossible to describe. I appreciate all types. Then when you ask other people what kind of music they like, and they say "all kinds". Then I start asking questions: Me: Oh yeah? All kinds? Them: Oh yeah! Me: So like Death metal? Them: Well, no.. Me: Country? Them: No, I hate that! Me: Trance?| Them: Uh... Me: Progressive rock? Them: Uh, what? Me: Top 40? Them: Oh, of course, those are my favorite songs! Me: Ok, enough said. Yes, I see you love all types of music. Me: Now please gather your things and politely leave my house. LOL. I will add you as a friend if you don't mind.

Haha, glad to know that I have indirectly been responsible for changing your life! :P Hyperbole aside, though, that band has some seriously great music. Dash and Blast, specifically, is one of the most 'complete' pieces of music I've heard, if you know what I mean. Also We Flood Empty Lakes. I strongly recommend getting their EP Enjoy Eternal Bliss. Too bad they're not that productive though.
