Yeah, plus there aren't as many like memorable riffs to make tracks standouts. They all bleed together a bit more, partly due to the length.

Hey there, I had to leave you a shout. You're Blasphemophagher in that metal IRC channel, right? Yup, I'm in there as "Mick_Bynes" from time to time. I'll have to go back in there at some point in time.

you can also read some kafka. the metamorphosis is a short story and is an established existential classic. it's about a man who wakes up turned into a bug.

um, just about any novel that explores existence or the human condition can be shoehorned as existential. i think an easy one is woman in the dunes by kobe abe. i'd go with that, and the film adaptation is great too. a short but much more challenging one (though the easiest work by him) is Murphy by Samuel Beckett. If you want a simpler and quicker perusal of Beckett's ideology, you can take the easy route and read his famous play, Waiting for Godot. But idk if you'd want to read avant garde plays.

i'm sure they're all great. the plague is a good one. none are quite as straightforward as the stranger i dont think, however.

yay glad you liked it. I knew you'd relate to it at least somewhat. Journey at the End of the Night is much longer but it's dark and I think you will enjoy the main character, since he is an angry hateful fuck. if you havent read Picture of Dorian Gray, that would be another recommendation, since it's an easy and fun classic, the main character is a dick, and it has a supernatural tinge. I got recs for day bro, i read like a million books in the last 2 years.

it would really be hard to describe simply. it's basically that people come into existence for no reason, that life has no essence, due to being completely random and absurd, so all the essence we see in our lives (religion, people, job, goals, personal hygiene, literally ANYTHING) is made up by us for us in order to bring some sort of order into a world that has none. there is a lot of existentialist philosophers and views in general, so there is no overall clear consensus, but that's the simplest way I can describe it in one sentence. the stranger is so simple that you'd get existentialism by just seeing how the main character interacts with the world.

you should read Journey at the End of the Night. It's easy and you'd like it. I've been battling epicly difficult literature all year and its been replacing all my other pastimes completely. One could say I am obsessed.

a good amount of people, plus it takes up a lot of time, and taking up time with reading means I don't have as much time to think about my life
