Oh man, that sounds wild. More than keen to hear that. Glad to hear that you have a decent rehearsal space because my place is kinda shitty fr rehearsals, still with my folks and all. My only issue is that I just need to get my lisence (got all my hours, just gotta book the test) so i can transport around all my gear, since i cant go arounnd lugging amps and pedals on buses and trains, though until then we should hang out, get a beer, talk music and shit. See how that goes. Im free most nights but tuesday, wednesday an saturday when im working

Hey man, I like your style. You really create an awesome atmosphere of roaring noise, great use of feedback in your playing. We should defintely find some time to jam, what sort of level of uni/work commitments do you have?

Hey dude, hope you enjoyed the night, here's that surf rock shoegaze band I mentioned: http://novafile.com/u09c0zdnw7p0 I'll try and get you a invite for what.cd when I get one so it's super easy to find music online.

Hey man, I'll give you a text on Friday. I can meet up whenever you want, my brother lives right opposite Oxford Art and I'll probably be around there in the afternoon too.

Ah, I'm actually going to dinner with my girlfriend first, so I'm not sure what time I'll arrive at the Enmore, but I'll give you a text when I'm there depending on the time. Yeah, me too, only been there once before, but I'm keen to check out some bars/cafes and breweries down there.

Ah, cool man. Been down to Melbourne much? Well I'll be going to Animal Collective on the 17th (same day as my girlfriends birthday, she's gonna kill me), I'll be in your area, be cool if you wanted to grab a predrink with me if you're free.

Yeah, I'll be kicking myself for not seeing The Drones live, but I just can't afford it right now. Are you going with your girlfriend then? Haha, I made sure my flight was through Tullamarine, Avalon is a bitch. Are you just popping down for the day or staying for a bit after?

Ah, they would be pretty cool. To be fair, I think it's just Australian festivals I dislike. Are you definitely going to Cloud Nothing at the Annadale Hotel? I can't tell how much I like the band although I love the first two tracks off Attack on Memory. Guess I need to listen to their other albums. So the unreleased bands for IBYM came out, pretty damn disappointing, but at the same time with such awesome headliners, it was sort of expected. Booking my flights for Melbourne now and GY!BE in Sydney, going to wreck my wallet!

Gotta disagree man, I find it really hard to have a good time at a festival unless its an amazing band. The drinks are too expensive, people won't shut the fuck up, too many bogan and hippies using it as an excuse to get fucked up and the sound quality sucks. I'm like that picture of /mu/ at a party thinking why aren't I home, haha. I did do volunteer work for BDO a couple of years back, that was an alright deal, saw LCD Soundsystem before they quit, that was cool. Saw you listened to No Age and HTRK, what did you think? HTRK are the fucking tits, saw them at Good Gods last year I think and it was the perfect setting for them.

Haha, in that heat? Fuck that. Plus their new album was pretty lame. I wonder how the crowd of BDO is going to react to AnCo, last time I went I just remember being surrounded by bogans shouting with their shirts off waiting for the bigger acts to come on. Fuck I hate festivals haha.

Haha, I ended up giving the ticket away for free to some girl at the door. That's great you pretty much liked everything, I really do recommend giving BoC a few more listens, they really are one of the greats and influencers of electronic music. Hopefully Seekae will do a live show soon, first time I saw them was in a backyard and that was awesome. Give Bloom from Beach House a listen to, too. No plans to see Animal Collective?

Time to start with Boards Of Canada then haha. I'd start with their main 3 studio albums, and if you dig them, start going in their amazing backlog. Seekae is a great Sydney band too that's not lo-fi based but a bunch of glitchy ambient sounds, their first album is a 10/10. And for a wildcard, try this artist called Death By Panda and the albums called Arms and Allocations. I got it from a share thread out of the blue and it's a great electronic post-rock/ambient IDM album. Im just getting into Brian Eno myself right now, but I have listened to his first album heaps of times. If you need help finding any albums, I'll be happy to get a you a link. Also, some nice ambient artists are of course Aphex Twin, Tim Hecker and Fennesz.

Shit man, I'd be happy to recommend you some artists, Electronica as a whole is fucking great. Are there any themes or sounds you'd want to explore? It's a pretty big genre so it's a hard question haha.

I just checked it and it's $50, I don't think I'll go for that price, they've dropped in quality quite a bit too, sadly. Haha I'd say you should go visit him more often then, but it really doesn't get that many good bands. I've only been once, and that was for Tortoise. So juche wasn't bad, but I probably wouldn't listen to it again, which is strange because the way I would describe it (lo-fi glitchy ambient) sounds like something I would like.

Merry Christmas to you man. I never really bought into that Metro stuff, but I'll check it out. I'm not a Funkadelic fan, but I can imagine that it would be a bunch of fun. Start off with Dino Jr's second album, it's awesome. Their most recent albums are actually quite good too. They range from amazing noisy rock to bland americana hard rock, so they can be hit or miss, but I'll probably end seeing them because I should haha. I'm not in Sydney right now, but I will be in a couple of days, if you want to go grab a beer sometime after NYE, I'd be happy to. Are you planning on seeing 65daysofstatic?

Fuck yeah dude, go listen to some Beach House right now, they are amazing and are great live, this will be the third time I've seen them live. Actually kinda suprised you haven't heard of No Age, seems right up your alley. They only have two albums, the latter a bit more poppier rock, kinda like Japandroids. Looking at last.fms events page, it seems like we actually have a whole bunch of bands coming to Australia from the start of Jan til March, it's gonna bleed me dry. Currently working out if I want to see GY!BE in Sydney, then Swans in Melbourne the next night, and then IBYM the night after. Tough decisions. Also, would you be able to recommend any 2012 releases? I was travelling for about half this year and Im only just catching up on the years music releases.
Actions
-

That sort of describes No Age actually. Perhaps not totally the clean pop part, but they can be quite noisy. I'm sure you already know them, but check them out if you haven't already. I actually assumed that it was all you on your soundcloud rather than a band. tfw you really get into an artist and then discover they just finished their Australian tour. Fuck, this happened with Modest Mouse before. Atleast it's freeleech time haha

I can't stand Isn't Anything, Kevins voice is absolutely terrible, a large part of why I don't like them. Nice recordings man, I gotta say the noisy stuff is the best stuff though. Do you have any plans of releasing anything soon or just record here and there?

I honestly don't understand the MBV hype, I understand the influence Loveless had but I can't get myself to enjoy it. Maybe I will when if I see them at IBYM, but other than that, I'm sick of trying to get myself to like them haha. Do you record anything that you play?
Actions
-
strangerthan_
Ah, I actually prefer to know most of the songs before going to a gig. I feel sort of left out if I don't recognise a song haha. Do you play bass? My girlfriends got one lying around somewhere I should really play around with some day. I was thinking about IBYM, I really hope they put out a 2nd announcement soon, would suck to have some great bands added to only have it sell out for the Sunday, straight away. Oh, also wanted to ask, did you go to Four Tet? I was thinking of going, but I can't stand DJ sets.
Actions
-
strangerthan_
Honestly, I was never a huge fan or anything, and I still don't know all their songs, but they put on a great show and I'm psyched to see them again. Yeah, it was almost like a different bands album compared to their other albums. I know not to expect their experimental noise sound anymore for the next album, but I just hope that WIXIW was a once off-album and they try continue along the S/T and Sisterworld. Just saw you have a Die! Die! Die! track in your most listened to, do you see them when they came? I really wanted to but I exhausted from work so I had to miss it.

Your girlfriend would be missing out, they're really great live. I'd be happy to catch up for a beer before too. Glad to see someone else that enjoys the Joy Division Les Bains Douches 1979 album as much as me. And hey, what did you end up thinking of Liars latest album? It seemed a bit too mellow for me, pretty lackluster.
Actions
-
strangerthan_
Yeah I really wanted to go for Liars, but I couldn't bring myself to go to another festival, although I did go last year, but that line-up was amazing. I actually got the Deerhoof gig off your page haha, that should be good. APTBS is gonna be awesome, saw them earlier this year in London, super loud. Have you listened to the 10th Anniversary edition of Turn on the Bright Lights? It's got some great demos on it.

The only one I really "know" is Aron Hagberg. He's dating a friend of mine... I haven't really met him but I've seen him around at Mona. What's he like? My friend was reluctant to date him at first lol. Heh, I went to disneyland and bought face masks with characters on them as souvenirs for my friends. Needless to say they didn't get much use.

Well, my twin sister has the flu, it could be that. She's wearing one of those face masks lol. I suck at making new friends... You know a shit load of people though, I was looking at "people you may know", and I have a lot mutual friends with your friends. Small world.

Yeah, when I went to Akiba there were maids on the street handing out flyers. Some of them were cute. That reminds me, I was talking to my hairdresser about how I was an otaku (lol) and she said her sister worked at a cosplay cafe in Akiba. Now that would be fun.

Now that I think about it I would probably be really awkward around them... Sounds like a host club, which would be my worst nightmare lol. Too many attractive people, I wouldn't know what to do. It'd be an interesting experience though.

Clashes are the worst. Even big day out managed to make clashes in their lineup when I only have like 5 bands I want to see. But I guess a festival as big as summer sonic is bound to have them. How long does it go for anyway? Did you camp out?
