Hi "Joe." Just stopping by as I happened to stumble upon the story of Joe Hill tonight when I recognized the photo you use as your last.fm avatar in another context. Being Canadian I guess I can be ignorant of American history at times and I had never heard of this story. I had no idea "Joe Hill" wasn't your actual name! Well anyways, I just wanted to say if it hadn't been for the socially conscious use of this social media platform I may never have heard about this important and fascinating story. Big ups to you! Cheers, JS.

I've definitely discovered a lot of great music here, and places like Twangville and The 9513. I haven't played around with emusic that much... I buy more CDs than mp3s, but I'll have to check it out.

Hey Joe Hill! Check out my new video of Are You A Citizen. Joe Hill's in there among the images of historic American struggles. Images of Abu Ghraib and Iraq bring us up to the age of the oil empire. It's here at Last FM! Vic

Just wait a few weeks for the Super Bowl to see more teevee nuttiness. I don't know if this is rare or not, but recently I heard a Springsteen demo for the Nebraska album that included Born in the USA. This is a song I've always liked except for the production of it when it was actually released. Anyway, a very different style is used "Nebraska-esque" and it makes a huge difference. Well I don't know why I said all that. heh

It looks like the nation and the world (minus a number of its former inhabitants of course) are going to outlast the reign of W.

Thanks Joe. Are you digging it? I did "cherry pick" a few tracks off of it a couple months ago, but it didn't really grab me as much as some of their older stuff. Maybe I'll have to give it a another listen...

Awesome. I am an eMusic subscriber (and I have tonnes of download credits accumulated... tend to forget I have an account there and just go to iTunes when I'm looking for something). Thanks for the tips on how to best use them up!

Super lately? The journal thread over on RandyB1961's page had lots of interesting stuff/leads that I've been checking out. I've been listening to a fair amount of Justin Townes Earl's new album and also downloaded a few tracks of off his earlier "Yuma" EP. You'd probably like that if you haven't heard it already. Not sure if it's your cup of tea but I've recently downloaded the new Walkmen album "You & Me" which (although it's a bit early to say) I think is their best album ever. Of course, I'm super psyched about a new Calexcio album which is supposed to drop in a week or two. How 'bout you? Anything new burning up the turntable these days?
