I thought I'd check in with you to see if you were keeping up with the new Protest the Hero releases, one a month for the next 6 months (4 now)!

Suicidal Tendencies is one of my favorite bands and I especially love that quote. I see a lot of people in the metal community judged based on their clothes, appearance, whatever...metal is intangible, either it's your passion or not.

I like the new 311 single though it's a little disjointed...they have Scotch Ralston producing again (Transistor and Soundsystem) I heard a sampler and it definitely sounds like old-school 311 so I'm excited.

They put on a great show! If you're digging And So I Watch You From Afar, definitely give an ear to Enemies & Toe. Both are in that melody/mood/math heavy post-rock.

It's been a few years since I've seen PTH live, and their tradition of getting tighter every time I see them did not skip a beat this weekend. Luke and Tim are such a solid guitar duo, though it seems as if they're overlooked more often than not in guitarist circles. I see you've been listening to a lot of ASIWYFA, were you at their show last month as well?

Haha yep! Though all of Sacramentum's stuff is great, make sure you at least check out Far Away from the Sun before you make any judgements. It's an incredible melodic black metal album, and besides maybe their first EP, none of their other albums sound anything like it. They shifted to a unique style of melodic death metal after that album, but the production is pretty crappy in my opinion.

I'd also say check out Keith Merrow, for something similar to Loomis. http://www.last.fm/music/Keith+Merrow?ac=Keith+Merro

Well greetings to you!. I would say check out Halcyon, from Australia, their Pastures EP is really excellent. Here's the link to their page http://www.last.fm/music/Halcyon.

Thanks man! Periphery stole the show but everyone was good. I got into Nevermore late but Loomis was always my favorite part of that band. Protest the Hero is easily one of my favorite bands; for a band to be that technically proficient AND creative is rare...Scurrilous was my favorite album of 2011.

Oh hell yes! Sikth rules us all, lol...they are reuniting once their current projects are finished, very exciting for someone like me who didn't discover them until after they broke up :)

Prisoner of Azkaban is literally my favorite book ever. I love Half Blood Prince too...have you heard of Roger Zelazny? He wrote a book called Great Book of Amber that will blow your friggin mind, and WOW that is one of the most flattering compliments I've ever received...think I might have to return the favor to your top 50 :)
