I grew up only knowing Three Dog Night’s cover of “Eli’s Coming.” The first time I heard Laura’s original I levitated into the air. She is everything. 🎹

My favorite play? Definitely a cat on a hot tin roof,Hamilton, who afraid of Virginia and raisin in the sun. I'm pretty generic play wise and gravitate to stuff I've been lucky to see irl rather than "the best". Question for you guys: what ate your favorite book adaptations?

Angels in America (both parts, but especially Millennium Approaches). One of the singular most important pieces of American art, imo. I was in a production of Our Town my freshman year of college and fell in love with it. Highly recommend YouTubing the 1989 Lincoln Center revival. Penelope Ann Miller is incredible. Act 3, parts 1&2 oooooof!!! August Wilson’s Fences is a masterpiece. Too many!!!

heey! I just saw your comment on the page for the song 'Baby' by Gal Costa and decided to stop by... I ended up liking the charts and the bio. Are you really a queer poet from the Midwest?

The choir! When they first came in, I didn’t exactly jump, but I was like !!!! I didn’t immediately love it like I have other songs by her, but I appreciate that she’s the kind of artist that wouldn’t exactly drop THE song first (thinking about “Geyser” leading Be the Cowboy). Overall, very excited for the album and hopefully more forthcoming singles from it!

I think the choir parts were the best, because I was prepared for the song to live in that initial tone for its entirety. Haha, I actually had the opposite happen to me -- I was absolutely in love with Geyser and felt a bit underwhelmed by the rest of BtC's rollout. But yeah, considering I didn't expect her to put out another record so soon, I'm going in with no expectations and a smile :)

Ok no big deal but Ys is my singular favorite album of all time. I hope you love it. She’s not on Spotify at all anywhere. She’s been very vocal against it. I kinda fell off of PJ’s discography after Let England Shake (a brilliant, brilliant album). That was the album that really got me into her all those years ago wow. Greeting from Nebraska lol

Rat Saw God by Wednesday is my favorite album of the year so far. Caroline Polachek close close second. Kara Jackson’s Why Does the Earth Give Us People to Love? Those would be my top 3.

Hello 👋🏻 ty ty. I see you were listening to Teen Dream, one of THE singular greatest dream pop albums, so you’re definitely on the right track. The distinction between dream pop and shoegaze gets kinda blurry for me; I feel a lot of bands do both? The album Gala by Lush is really great. Slowdive’s self-titled from 2017. 23 by Blonde Redhead. Hopefully you’ll find somewhere amongst those three albums that’s new to you and that you dig ✌🏻

i am sorry i took so long to reply, i am granting you full permission to fight me. anyways haha, thank you so so much for the recs!! i'll definitely be giving them a listen soon - i've especially heard such amazing things about slowdive :) teen dream, and just beach house in general, have been the best things to happen to me in a while, i'm having the absolute best time just slowly making my way throughout the band's discography!! i first discovered 'depression cherry' about two years ago, and i have no idea why i didn't decide to venture out into the band's albums, but i guess better late than never haha. again, thank you THE MOST for the recs, and i hope you have a wonderful rest of your day :)

GO JOS 🎉 Tysm ☺️Your library is astounding. I’ve only really listened to Scott Walker’s later discography where he gets real dark real weird. Where would you recommend starting for early stuff?

LOVED IT. I knew a couple tracks but had only listened to it once in its entirety (in 2019) and not carefully/intimately. But Angela Fucking Morley. My new hero. The dissonant strings on the opener are my absolute favorite thing. So incredibly beautiful and unsettling. I remembered Pitchfork putting “Big Louise” in their 60s songs list and I understand why. :’( WOW WHAT A TALENT GONNA LISTEN TO HIS WHOLE DISCOGRAPHY NOW

his coverage of crude and thornful subjects is the best in the game. he managed to convey his views so acutely during his 'boyish' years and it went further and beyond later in his life. i've got a biographical book of his on my library, if you find yourself ever interested to know even more about his extensiveness as a person and as an artmaker and viewer. his intelligence was truly captivating. and also, if you want to ramble about music or whatnot, could i share my discord with you? or any other social media that suits the chatter, if you're okay with it. cheers!

Awwww thanks! ☺️ I literally listened to “Price of Blue” the other day after not listening for far too long and it completely wowed me all over again. Gives me major Deerhunter à la “Desire Lines” vibes. And HEMLOCKE SPRINGS WOWOWOW A FUCKIN TUNE. Hope you’re well!

Oh shit! Thank you! "Heaven's Only Wishful" actually made my Favorite Songs of the 2010s list, but I've done a lousy job keeping up with his stuff. Loving "Chasing Ghosts" a lot. That bass! Ok I've deleted this comment twice lolol because it's listed as both Ghost and Ghosts on Spotify? So confused. Regardless, it's a great song.
