I'd just like to say your 'shout' about Lou Reed and John Cale's breathtaking "A Dream" from "Songs For Drella" is so very good; such understanding. I was actually happy that there are people who understand and explain as you did/do...

I'm late getting back to you on this, butttt: As for the metal, I'm sure I'd like it. I actually listen to a decent amount of metal, despite the fact my last.fm doesn't seem to show it.

Yeah, I've had some mixed feelings about the project. I don't like "A Drowning" all that much, but I'm still trying to let it grow on me. The new music video + song (The Space in Between) however, is completely amazing and beautiful. I'm happy Trent is finally pursuing things outside of NIN.

depends who you ask in the band. mine is sungazing, pete's is providence public defender, harry's is golden gears, and nick's is analog astronaut. they're all pretty different.

I do enjoy The VU (and White Light/White Heat) as much as the guy next to the next guy but I guess I just don't connect with "Sister Ray" it doesn't sound that delicious to me it always seemed that youngsters are eager to praise it only for being a seventeen-minute noise-jam from the sixties with ding-dongs and drugs in the lyrics...I mean I do like to get tranced out too like to Lou Reed's eighteen-minute "Like a Possum" epic from Ecstasy but "Sister Ray" doesn't seem to have the dynamics to pull it off with me. Maybe there's a state of mind that I need to listen to it in...oh god okay enough of my blabbering I'll listen to the thing again tomorrow and hear what it does it doesn't really matter anyway...: P

you're right, Contemporary Popular doesn't necessarily mean that specific genres or artists are popular. but what is classical in "contemporary classical" music anyway? and what, actually, is considered 'rock music'? i guess it doesn't help to take wordings too literally but to ask for their deeper meaning. and maybe we can come up with a more suitable term. frankly said, i'm not very interested in people's opinions and not even in mine, and i often hesitate if people ask for my opinion. i prefer to ask questions. we still can have a conversation, and it would be good to mutually agree not to take anything personally. may i ask, what do you want to find out discussing with me? it could help me in focusing my response.

"Said aesthetics are not yours?" hm, maybe that you conclude from a particular rating of mine that you object (and i'm, fine with that) and our arguments so far that this guy you're trying to get your message across is from a different (or even old-fashioned?) world regarding musical experience? that's what i sense in your last message. the only thing i want to do is to *not* overrate the music i love or used to love because there is still a world above our "10/10"s. that's why i rate Astronomy Dominé or Interstellar Overdrive from Pink Floyd (my favs when i was 14 ys old) with 7.5/10. these songs are awesome but i also realize that they aren't great composers or instrumentalists. i have my 8+ for Stockhausen, Henze. as you told me you'd like to check out my library: please go ahead. maybe listening can tell you something? i don't want to got lost in words with you.

Well, I started with Robot Hive Exodus(a more bluesy/experimental album) and then followed that with The Elephant Riders, which is personally my favorite album of theirs. I would almost describe it as hard rock with a dash of Sabbath and funk. Usually, people suggest Blast Tyrant since it's their most straightforward/to the point hard rock album. I kinda rambled there, but I think one of those 3 would be the best starting point. Hope it helps, man!
