I'm actually quite into the new Franz album. I've accepted they won't top their debut, but it's a decidedly enjoyable effort. The new Lucid Dreams is terrific.

There's like a 98% correlation rate between Shirley and Nicola's appeal. Everyone who likes one seems to like the other. Similarly, those who find one UNattractive tend to not find the other ideal, either. Call it the Ginger Quotient, if you will. :p

Thanks for the mp3. I've started working on my Top 100 of 2008 list. I'm sure SOR will make an appearance in the Top 20!

Yes, I am digging Little Boots. And I may be profiling her in a fashion context in the near future, so I'm all sorts of interested. I like "If This Is Love" for its Yazoo sample, but "Up" seems more urgent, more aggressive to me, which appears to be the quality I seek out in left-field pop music. haha

Have you checked out The Saturdays yet? Yet another PJ-approved heir to the Aloud throne. Their song "Up" is totally the little sister of NIN's "Capital G". http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ajZfbvQFfuo

It's totally some obsessed 28 year old PJ addict that made it, I guarantee it. It spawned from this: http://dangerouswitchcraft.blogspot.com/ HAHA. Oh - GA made it to metacritc. They'd have a great rating if it weren't for Sputnikmusic, home to many bottom barrel level online music scribes. I hear you about the economy. Ugh.

You have to hear Christina Aguilera's remake of "Beautiful"!!! It's extremely Felt Mountain. If that isn't exciting enough, her next album will be produced by Goldfrapp, Ladytron, and Sia! I love it when the few mainstream acts I like take cues from my even more treasured indie faves. I AM SENDING YOU THE MP3 ON HERE AND FACEBOOK. LISTEN TO IT!!!

I'm totally crazy for Ladyhawke. She has strong fashion connotations, too, so it's a win/win. She!: http://hypem.com/track/661774/Girls+Aloud-She

actual music critics LOVE GA, probably more than any other girl band ever. It's just the armchair critics who hesitate to give them credit: it just goes against all the rockist rhetoric they've valued for so long. Oh well! Oh, btw, do you have the new b-side "She"? I love it. Balenciaga is referenced.

"Without any meaning, we're just skin & bone, like beautiful robots, dancing alone" is probably one of the best lyrics ever. I'm glad you like the album! It's polarizing fans, but impressing critics.

Hey - I'm surprised you aren't obsessed with Robyn's reincarnate album, as it's pretty much the highest rated pop album in years (and p4k etc love it, too). It's actually way better than Anniemal ever was, and a hell of a lot fiercer and more imaginative. The Knife influence is heavy, and they produced some of it.

Obviously it's a Xenomanian leftover intended for GA (who would have done it justice), but it's still decent. It also shows however, how Annie is completely bankrupt in the personality department. She's no different than Rachel Stevens. And anyway, if there's one thing I hate, it's a meek Norwegian. LOL

have you heard 'The One' (Kylie) remixes? Freemasons deliver again with their hypnotic contextualization of the song. It will be a future gay classic.

one down, one to go. it was fun - very small, very intimate gathering with old friends. got a little drunk, in a dignifed manner, i like to think. it was great catching up with old peers. next weekend is my family party (=$$$) and my brother's graduation. i'd like to do another social gathering in the city for those of us 21+ soon. i'll be on the lookout for a good time and setting.
