Indeed. Still is. I kind of got into it by sheer accident, just because I was banking on it being so much less popular than the iPod, and thus, more likely to be available on the bargain rack. Sure enough, it was. The shocking thing was, the reviewers who said it was as good as an iPod, maybe even better in some ways ... were right. I still use my Zune 120 daily. This thing was built like a tank. After 10 years of daily use, I did finally have to change battery - it was only lasting 1-2 hours at that point. But now, what, 15 years later, I'm still using it for music and podcasts daily.

Very kind of you to say! You're no slouch yourself! I see some His Name Is Alive, Tears Run Rings, Airiel, and Magnetic Fields on your end.

Thanks! I'm only miffed that I never learned of its existence until about a year ago. Like, I could have owned this album many, many years ago, and I only just discovered it? Still, better late than never. I'm trying to track down their follow-up album, but I've already heard that it's not supposed to be as good as Breadmaker.

Why not? It's available used on Discogs for pretty cheap. I'm going to purchase it eventually myself, I just haven't done it yet. And as for the 7-inches, some can be had used, but they aren't cheap. I found some of those songs on YouTube, where, yeah, the quality wasn't all that great, but it at least gives one a sense of what to expect before plopping down $15-20 for a 7".

mainly bc i don’t currently own a turntable, but im also in a pretty remote area and shipping can get pretty expensive or some stuff just doesn’t ship at all :’) tbh I’m mainly interested in their self-released cassettes, although they seem much harder to track down

Gotcha. Well, in any event, Calidad seems only to have ever been released as a CD, not a vinyl record. However, if you do get a turntable, you should track down the Saint Marie's vinyl reissue/remaster of Breadmaker. I have it, and it's a thing of beauty.
