Last.fm definitely needs to email me whenever I get a shout. Can't believe you just linked me a Miley Cyrus song! I just realised I have an embarrassing amount of Miley Cyrus scrobbles. I'm actually really enjoying this tune though, it's nice to see she isn't still completely mental; she never suited being bonkers. Although, it looks like Katy Perry is on somewhat of a downward spiral if new haircuts and questionable stage antics are the criteria. Speaking of female singers, I wish Taylor Swift would just put her music on Spotify, she's doing herself a massive disservice.

What the hell, I thought a reply would go to your page and not mine. I'll post both, just to be annoying.

Aw, happy holidays to you too, Jake! You're (gasp!) right, Last.fm shoutbox IS a pile of rubbish. (I'm sure your fans/followers are just devastated we're no longer in the loop with your earth-shattering music discoveries and listening habits.) For some reason I randomly logged in today and just saw your last two messages. 2016 was actually a great year for me. I feel terrible for saying that because it was such an awful year for the overall music/culture stage, you know, with all these celebrity deaths and everything. But it was a good year. I hope you had a great year as well, and I hope 2017 is even better, and that in the new year you'll embark on interesting adventures, meet amazing people, make them laugh like you usually do, and finally start listening to some good music. It's been a long time coming. Love! xoxo

Haha, just saw this! "Very low"?! NOOOOOOOOOOO! I refuse to believe you. How the mighty have fallen, sad times indeed. Oh, I've been great! How've you been? I've discovered so much good music, stuff I thought I'd never be into. I do find out as I get older, I'm listening to less and less of the stuff I used to LOVE. I can't believe there was once a point in my life when I used to listen to Trivium or Slayer unironically. Hilarious. (Btw, at least it's back to very high now, whew. You know what you must do, Jake. Go listen to a lot of Arctic Monkeys and/or Pink Floyd immediately to restore it back to super. DO IT. FOR SCIENCE)

Awesome! I'll probably finish it by tomorrow, I have like 4 episodes left :( Speaking of Game of Thrones, there's this part where Dwight tricks Erin into learning Dothraki, I couldn't stop laughing! Ugh, I'm not ready for another show just yet, and I have no idea what to watch next. TV show are such a massive investment for me, it's really not healthy. But I am SO excited for the final episode! AAAAH.

Don't bother with Parks&Rec, I actually stopped watching it some time ago rofl. It devolved into a drama storyline and stopped being funny. The thing about the Office is that even though it's tremendously funny, it has a surprisingly emotional depth and yeah, you get attached to the characters! Like I love the Jim/Pam storyline in the beginning but I like how that doesn't end up overshadowing the humour or other characters in the show. I just started Season 9 today (don't want it to end!) and I like it so far, wonder how they're going to wrap the whole thing up. Like who are the documentary guys going around taping everybody really? Stoked that you like Community! GoT, can't believe this but I haven't seen any of the new season yet. I've just been too involved in The Office, I always keep coming back to it because I feel like it's such a great de-stresser haha. I may have to catch up on GoT soon!

You know, I think Season 8 gets a bad rep. I'm on Episode 9 right now and yes you're right, it's still hilarious! I'm loving Robert California, it's actually a testament to the brilliance of the show that it can stand on its own without Michael Scott. Haha, that one with the fake fire drill is my favourite episode. And Dwight's Hannibal Lecter impression is one of his best moments, for sure. I laughed straight for ten minutes non-stop, and I'd never laughed at a screen that long, ever. That's how I know this show is so good. I'm so glad I gave it another shot after you brought up how great it was when I told you about Parks&Rec, and I take it back - Parks&Rec is NOTHING compared to The Office!

I've started doing that, not kidding. I was surprised by how great it is really, I've never laughed harder at any TV show before. The jokes are so clever, it's exactly my kind of humour. Yeah I've noticed that from Season 7 onwards it's not as good as the earlier seasons, but that's only because they set the bar so high (and it's still very funny). Season 3-5 were the hallmark seasons, in my opinion..so many great moments. I was practically crying at the Prison Mike sequence. Can't believe I didn't get into it earlier!

Just wanted to let you know, The Office is the best TV show ever made. I had only watched it until halfway through season 2 before, and I randomly decided to watch an episode when I was bored one afternoon two weeks ago, and now here I am 7 seasons later and I don't think I can stop watching it oh my god help i haven't seen sunlight for days

Haha, don't worry I was half-kidding. Can't bring myself to willfully spoil it for anyone, really. Someone spoilt Tyrion killing you-know-who for me and I know how I pissed off I was. American Horror Story is shit, same with True Blood/Vampire Diaries/Arrow. I cannot get into that stuff at all. Why is it so popular?! Interstellar is amazing, and McConnaughey is absolutely great in it. I enjoyed it so much more cause he does such a fantastic job. The visuals, story (and the mind-benders Nolan is famous for) and the music, oh god the MUSIC. Probably Hans Zimmer's best score in recent times, and I do not say that lightly. Watch it in IMAX. You're gonna love it! :)

Hahahaha...that is genius. I should try blackmailing people into reading them or else getting it ruined from me. I'm too nice, why didn't I think of that?!??! The Sopranos is on my list, one of my friends is a huge fan and says its the best TV show ever made. I just got into Orange is the New Black (yeah, late) just to see what the fuss was all about. It's okay, I guess. I don't think I'll end up watching a lot, there's better shows I could spend my time on. Yeah, I see posts on the GoT reddit about people running into the production/actors on set in NI all the time, so cool. Btw, did you watch Interstellar?

Ah, now I'm so glad you bring that up. First off, the Hound/Brienne fight has no business being on the show because they never fight in the books. I was pretty unhappy with it too, but just out of curiosity I'll tell you what happens in the book (I won't spoil anything else). SPOILERS: In the book, Arya and the Hound come across an inn in the village, where they meet Polliver (first episode of season 4). The Hound kills them all but gets injured, and dies shortly thereafter (although we never see him dying). Now for Brienne, I cannot tell you because it is one of book 4's greatest scenes. Book 3 (Storm of Swords, on which Season 3 is based on) ends with such a SHOCKING reveal (seriously, it turns the series on its head) AND WHICH THE SHOW COMPLETELY DID AWAY WITH. It's like eliminating the Red Wedding from the story (Wtf, HBO). So...if you ever have 234297349 hours to throw away, give the books a shot.

Well, in my defence...it was puke-inducing on the first watch! And I have a morbid curiosity with these things, so I went back to watch it. As for the Oberyn/Mountain fight, I actually took screenshots so I could analyze the grand effect when he does makes that popping sound with the you know what. I do not enjoy gore at all, far from it! It's just that Game of Thrones is so obviously set in fantasy-land I cannot take it seriously at all. I find the death of Gale (even though its not gory) on BB much, much more depressing or any of those weird hammer/acid attacks by those psycho twin brothers on Luther more disturbing, since those are set in the real world, so to speak.

Yes, grad school here in the US and it's a lot of work :/ Too right you are, now that I think of it, all my recommendations have been flawless. Even the music ones. ESPECIALLY the music ones. -_- Hannibal sounds like it will give me nightmares, oh joy! After Luther I think I can handle the big girl stuff now. And this is coming from someone who nearly puked at the Red Wedding and then went back to rewatch it. 4 times. In slow motion.

I KNOWWWW IAN REED OMFG AAAARGHHH HOLY SHIT. Easily one of the most hateable characters I know. I kind of get what you mean about starting with the new shows, it's like taking an entirely new commitment and I'd instead fall back on what I already know too. Funny you mention Peaky Blinders, it's actually one of my top Netflix recommendations for the past week or so! It caught my eye because I immediately thought, 'Wait, Cillian Murphy...in a tv series?!' The Knick is something completely new to me, though, but don't worry, I'm not bothered by a little blood! So awesome of you for wanting to give Parks&Rec a try! (I swear to God, this is not one of my crappier recommendations. You will enjoy it. Season 2 is where it really hits its stride, so stick with it!) I love that BB parody haha, there's one like that for GOT too. Sorry if my replies are a bit late, grad school keeps killing me.

It's interesting you mention that, my favourite BB character is actually Marie. Kidding. I hate her with a fiery passion. I hope they bring back Huell and Patrick back (Bill Burr is really funny!) They've said that it's set in the pre-Breaking Bad timeline, so there's been talk that Walt and Jesse might make a cameo. Speaking of Walt and Jesse...I don't know if you've seen this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KWrRPohom3I

I know, only 3 seasons for Luther isn't really fair...especially when it gets so good towards the end (although Season 1's ending episodes were some of the best TV I've ever seen. The Zoe/Ian Reed thing, sooooo good and so unexpected.) I tried to watch it as slowly as I could cause I knew there were only 3 seasons, but I ended up binge-watching the last four episodes, it was so great. The you-know-what with Justin was majorly pissing off though, I'm still gonna continue to pretend that just didn't happen. I ALSO love True Detective, it's intense. Yay for you liking The Office! Now...I don't want to be pushy....BUT DUDEEEEE. If you like the Office, you are going to love the living shit out of Parks and Recreation. It is THE second funniest show on TV. It's shot The-Office style, but the humour is quality. I totally thought it was overhyped, and then I watched it. WAS I WRONG. It's on Netflix as well, the whole thing. Give it a shot, you'll really like it!

Don't know if I know much in the way of recommendations, but I've been on a Parks and Recreation kick lately. I think I've had too much of drama...especially after Luther, so I've been watching comedies. Parks and Recreation is really funny in a deadpan way (honestly any comedies that don't use laugh tracks are a good bet). You probably already like Arrested Development. Community, Always Sunny, Boondocks, Derek, The Office and the IT Crowd are other ones I like, they're all good. I'm really excited about Better Call Saul, though, I think it's out this Feb? It'll probably end up being half comedy and half drama, and Vince Gilligan can do no wrong, so I'm really looking forward to it. So far nothing has come close to BrBa for me, except I think The Wire which I know you told me about and which I should really get into. After Luther I'm a huge Idris Elba fan so I will probably end up watching it soon. And happy birthday, btw! :)

Well fuck..I just finished Luther. It's awesome! I like how gritty it was, but all those unexpected deaths was some GOT shit. (I don't know if you've watched the entire thing but if you have you know which ones I'm talking about). I wish they'd made more than 3 seasons. How cool is Alice? And speaking of GOT...the 4th season was soooo disappointing, I kind of gave up on the series (except for the Mountain/Viper fight and Tyrion's stuff, which was great). The books, of course, are spectacular. SO GOOD. OMG. Don't know if you've read the last book, if you haven't...you know nothing! It gets so much better later on. He's a great writer!

AHAHAHA... 'improved'? Wasn't it superior to begin with? Maybe I do owe you some credit for turning me on to The 1975 and, this is crazy, but Miley Cyrus. Not even ashamed. Her songs are like my guilty pleasure now. And I'm very well, thank you. Hope you haven't killed too many people yet :)
