I've noticed you listened to Pat Metheny's "Finding and Believing". The choral section you can hear in the composition is performed by singers from the Choir of the Cambodian Royal Palace. If you want to find out more about Cambodian music you may find my article very informative. http://www.laboratoriummuzycznychfuzji.com/2013/06/labopedia-muzyka-kambodzy-panstwa-w.html If you like it you may also click "lubię to" button to like my website (on the right handside of the page). There's a translation tool in the top right corner.

By the way, talking about samples reminded me: have you heard of Dead When I Found Her? It's a project from this guy from Portland. He's obsessed with Skinny Puppy, and it shows. Oh, how it shows. As such, he does a lot of sampling. However, he's actually really good at it, and it really compliments his work instead of hindering it for once. Also, he tends to use more obscure sources, which helps. But yeah, he's awesome and I'm still madly in love with his album over half a year after discovering it, so you should check him out. The cover songs that he posts online are good fun as well. He needs to get a proper drummer for when he plays In the Air Tonight live, though. :)

Oh dear, we're sick buddies too? :( Hope you get better asap! That God Module shout was great, loving that ice burn about futurepop being more aggressive than them. They're definitely not the most innovative band around, but I love their faux-spooky little schtick anyway. At least with them it's mostly tongue in cheek, as opposed to some of their peers with their painful attempts at being controversial. They just like horror movies a *bit* too much! :D Totally looking forward to seeing them again tomorr... er, tonight. I may be slightly too much of a night owl here. :O

Oh hey, I'm really sorry it's taken me so long to respond - I've been super sick & scarcely able to string two words together all week. Pretty much recovered now, though! I'm pretty fond of Haujobb, and I'm really looking forward to the upcoming album. Dead Market is such a great song, with a video that's actually creative as well. I totally agree that Daniel is one of those musicians that tends to be a bit overdependent on movie samples and the like - it always takes me out of the song a bit when I'm hearing Event Horizon or whatever being used for the nth time. At least Daniel's samples are usually semi-appropriate though - I love God Module to bits, but their samples are so terrible most of the time. I haven't listened to Standeg before as far as I know though, I'll have to check them out. And I'm loving that line about the medical student there, that's a great way of describing it. :)

INCOMING MEGA-SHOUT, yay. Anyway, if Daniel Myer Day can be a real thing which happens every year, then so can Frankapalooza. :) Which Ghost & Writer tracks specifically do you not care for as much? I agree that Hitman and Nightshift are both fantastic, though I think my favorite is still Man on a Wire. The explicitness of Elegance doesn't bother me, but that might result from hearing songs like Funker Vogt's Shaven once too often. That song is just so ridiculous. At least Frank usually manages to remain semi-subtle (at least in comparison) when he gets explicit. :O I've personally never had an issue with the vocals in Stromkern. Ned's definitely got a distinctive style, but I think it fits their music quite well. Talk about another bands that needs to hurry up and release some new stuff already - they finally updated their official website after yet another year of inactivity, so that's a good sign!

Dang, that's a shame that you missed out on seeing them as well. Like you said though, at least Frank seems to enjoy touring over here enough that hopefully he'll return in due time. :) It would be great if he would just tour with one of his other bands as well - I think I somehow adore the Ghost & Writer album a bit more every time I listen to it. It doesn't seem like he's ever actually performed with G&W or as Edge of Dawn live so far, but we can still hope, right? ;)

"All I see are idiotic clowns causing damage, curiously, that even they can't escape." Not sure how this applies to me; being an introvert I don't throw or attend wild parties which, as you say, can be destructive, but many are harmless. What do you mean by "seriously"? When I use the term I mean to connote a selfish degree of self-regard, eg with a drunk would beats a loved one because he takes himself too seriously and does not empathize with the other person. But my other point is, empathy only goes so far due to the way our economy is structured. Much of the overseas labor force that makes consumer goods is underpaid and treated with the utmost shit because it is legal there for employers to do so; just as drug cartels treat people shittily because they don't have to follow the law. The difference is, our consumer goods are legal, and drugs are illegal => not legitimized by the state, so people think of them differently even when the difference is ethically meaningless.

"Yeah, but how old was she?" Why do you care? "It's curious, the vast number of ugly and destructive things people can do to themselves and others when they're not taking themselves seriously." I'd say most bad people take themselves too seriously. "All I see are idiotic clowns causing damage, curiously, that even they can't escape. It's a regular hoot." They're doing this because they don't know when to calm the fuck down. "Oh and you little goofballs should give it your best shot trying to have any conceivable state euthanize me for attacking criminals, drug users and pedophiles." Haha, clearly I'm on the same plane as pedophiles for smoking once a week. By the way, do you know who grows your food, makes your clothing, and sorts your trash and recycling? They have fun lives. The 'your arbitrary consumer choices are SOOO destructive!!!' is a game no one can win. There is no such thing as a benign existence.

Probably around my age at that time. She's a year older than me, actually. I'm using it as an avatar because it is disarming and (hopefully) because it gives the impression that I don't take myself terribly seriously—something I try to achieve, even if I do end up being super-serious at times.

As do I! :D It's almost absurd how many collaborations Frank's done (not that I'm complaining!). He should really get together with Daniel Myer and form an overachiever's group, lol. Sadly, I haven't seen him live yet; the last time Seabound toured here was before I started going to shows regularly, so I didn't know about it until it was too late unfortunately. Hopefully they'll do another US tour soon so I can rectify that. How about you?

Sorry it's taken so long to get back to you. What's the good word on linux lately? Lots of things! Not that I have a detailed report for you ;) Things move too fast for me to keep tabs on. The linux kernel project is approaching version 3.1, has superior device support built in for devices old and new. Gnome3 is shaping up, though I don't use it personally. There are computers than run on linux, such as the raspberry pi, a $25 / $35 dollar hd capable machine -- plays quake3 as well -- that are fairly new. A new processor architecture is becoming more mainstream: ARM. Used in phones, soon to be used in laptops for low power and high battery life. Lately I've been looking into porting some apps from windows to linux. No easy task, but it's fascinating. Also: you HAVE to see the new my little pony : friendship is magic tv series. There has never been more manly awesome in any one show. I'm only one of millions to say so, so what do I know =D Check out Omega Lithium too. Peace, friend!

It's been a while since I've left a message. You're quite the super star =) judging by all the comments and plays you've been racking up. Haven't been delving much into new music lately, but if you can, check out RTPN. Similar style to Celldweller, very electronic which I like. There's also Fintroll which I haven't actually listened to, but have heard good things about. Something like Viking Metal... As always, keep being awesome. I bow to your experiencedness.
