See you've been listening to some Del Amitri...great band! Justin Currie's solo albums are ace, too. Just discovered Cloud Control, see you're a listener. Have a favorite album of theirs?

Hey! What a coincidence - I only have one Del Amitri album, but I just picked up another one for cheap at a store yesterday ('Some Other Sucker's Parade'). Definitely like what I've heard so far. And I picked up another Feeder album ('Silent Cry') at the same time! As for Cloud Control, I only know their first album ('Bliss Release'), which is solid. Thanks for the shout!

Hi, just wondering if you have heard the new re-worked version of Bowie's Never Let Me Down. As you may know, he expressed a desire to re-record it and this fairly drastic reworking is as close as we'll ever get to that. Mario McNulty produced it (Reality), while Reeves Gabrels, Sterling Campbell, Laurie Anderson, Nico Muhly and others replace deleted tracks from the 80s versions. I listened once through, and based on that at least 2 or 3 tracks stood out in ways I would not have noticed from the older versions. Bowie (and I agree) said that album marked his "nadir" but blamed it largely on the production. I'm not sure it's all down to bad production, some tunes don't work for me at least new production or old. Still, well worth a listen. I'd be interested in your opinion.

Hey! So I've listened to a few of the tracks (on youtube) but not the whole 2018 version of the album yet. The songs that sounded similar, like 'Never Let Me Down', did not excite me much. But I like what they did with 'Glass Spider' and 'Bang Bang' - it sounds different and more adventurous and interesting.

I never liked the original, but a few tracks really benefit from the re-workings. I thought Zeroes, for example, was a much more solid pop song than I remembered. The song structure came through in a way that it didn't on the '88 version. But several of the songs-- on a first listen-- still strike me as being weak. Though the arrangements may make them more interesting, there's only so much one can do with mediocre material. I'm glad they made it, and I'm sure I'll hear new elements when I listen to it again.

My favorite album of theirs is 'Skylarking'. Definitely try it if you haven't heard it before!

‘Skylarking’ is awesome but I believe my heart is split between ‘Black Sea’ and ‘English Settlement’ at the moment.

Uh-huh. For me it's a first for Langford's music (though I have heard of Mekons), and I'm not at all against hearing more. Want to rec something in addition to the Buckner collab?

Yeah, you totally should. Can't really go wrong with any of Liz's albums. None of them is as sparse as Tides of Time (especially her latest is a lot more fleshed out) but they're all great. Really don't get why she's so underrated.

Hey, that's way cool, yep :) Did you pledge for her new album? I'm really looking forward to it. It's been way too long since the last one. And I see you're listening to Liz Stringer as well. Great! Aussie expat?

Hello again, just dropping by to say I did see The Preatures live on the weekend but the singer had lost her voice so the guitar player sung the songs and she played a bit of keyboards. I'll go next time as well just to see the full band but great show. Kim Salmon was top of the bill so it was great night!
