Yes, the memorable opening words of the song "Smoke On The Water" Deep Purple ;) Thanks, Gdańsk has some really charming places, but it seems to me that when it comes to leisure and tourist attractions it can't compete with areas located on Lake Geneva ;) ... You write that you were some time ago in Silesia. This unusual Polish region, the main industrial center of the country. The local population uses the distinctive dialect, a distinct tradition and culture, the architecture in these areas different from those of other Polish regions . Also a lot of great rock bands and blues rock bands comes from that region. Well done, that being visited Krakow. The city has one of the most historic old towns in Poland about the rich history and its unique atmosphere. Great albums you brought from our country :) I'm also a collector of music albums.

Yes, that line is a joke based on the song from that record hehe. I'm a big fan of anything by Steele! I do like a lot of the old black metal groups, but prefer their later works (Immortal, Emperor, Enslaved, Satyricon, etc...) to their old early 90s sound.

Hi! This main photo was taken in Vevey (tourist town situated near Montreux) on Lake Geneva (Switzerland). Very pleasant areas to relax :) This picture on the right shows Długi Targ - one of the square of Gdańsk Main Town, which acts as a marketplace of the city. Thanks for spreading a photo of your city. Greetings :)

I will definitely check that album. But for the start I usually try going for quintessential albums and after I got hooked I listen to all rest. Regarding Mastodon, I read last interview with them in September and they told that they will go to the studio in November and will record everything by the end of this year as they don't have any tour to do. So it will come out early next year I believe.

Delivery is amazing! I found out they're from Canterbury scene.. They got some really great band there. Have you ever heard Caravan? They're from Canterbury too. I saw them with Wishbone Ash in a festival when I was about 11 or 12 and it was love at first hearing. Haha You sound so melancholic, but I gess you're right. These songs are so introspective and that's why it turns a regular afternoon in a beautifully sad afternoon. In moments like this you only need a knife and... ooops, just kidding! Frank Zappa is a genious, by far one of my favorite musicians (ok, it's a big list, but you know what I mean).

I'm schoked! I would never imagine someone that still listen Curved Air! It'is one of my favorite band with a female lead singer. The first one is Renaissance, of course... Annie Haslam is a godess! I just love these prog bands from 60's and 70's. We have some good stuff nowadays, but almost nothing can be compared to King Crimson, Genesis, Camel and all these guys. So, now i'll come back to 21 century and recommend a poland band, Quidam: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7TdCR6qhH0w&feature=related

Haha, that appears as an issue to a couple of my friends as well. Basically, I like anything bluesy. Whether it's radio-friendly easy listenable stuff by John Mayer, or heavy fuzz rock, it HAS to have that "something", that will make me listen to it over and over again. I also like specific type of vocals, but that's not the point right now. I used to be much more close-minded, but since I am exploring 70's inspired rock it's a lot better. I am taking notes on all of your recommendations, but I will have to postpone any musical tastings for at least a week, since I have a lot of studying ahead of me (and I can't really study with my headphones on). But by 19th May I should have the worst share of finals done, only a bunch of projects to complete, and that's where listening to hours of music comes in play.

Not into screaming vocals, Hey Sugar is the only exception due to their rather rock n' roll attitude (and their song This Is So Good being the absolute best song I've heard last year). But that Cancer Bats song is good, but not sure whether I will enjoy the whole thing. I guess there's only one way to find out... I am not looking for Black Sabbath sound anyway :P... Writting down some of the bands you mentioned. Asteroid is the only one that is featured in my library.

If you don't know King Hobo, then give it a listen - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zW6owAqINAU. I accidentally played this track on that Friday night, heard it just once before so I wasn't really familiar with it - my mind was blown within half a second of the opening riff. Groovy as fuck.

Of those mentioned, I am already familiar with Mount Carmel (brilliant vintage sound), Stone Axe and Mondo Drag (but listened to Drag's album only once, so I guess it's time to play it again). I have Graveyard bookmarked for a couple of weeks now (along with 40-50 another bands, so it might take a while) and Radio Moscow has been recommended to me before. Taking notes on CoC and Leadfoot as well. Btw, you are right - I am not into 'slow, crushing, doomy' riffs. I am actually going through a bit of a transformation taste-wise. Two-three years ago I was all about 80's glam / sleaze / heavy metal, but last couple of months I've been on hunt for more classic, blues inspired bands (but still with the rock n' roll attitude). Then one Friday night I got high on my own and spent the time listening to King Hobo and already-mentioned Mount Carmel. Day after I've been searching for all sorts of 70's / psychedelic / blues bands. So a little bit of this, little bit of that.

Don't be mistaken - I am not that much into true stoner rock bands. It might just be a coincidence that many of my top artists are tagged this way. I am always on hunt for blues based hard rock / rock n' roll bands with strong 70's and 80's influence, but never specifically targetted 'stoner' bands. I noticed this trend a couple of weeks ago - back then whenever word 'stoner rock' came up I always connected it with QoTSA, Kyuss and such. So I thought, well maybe I should check this stoner genre out. I downloaded a couple of them, gave it a listen, but the sound just wasn't what I am looking for these days. Despite that, I will check the band out, maybe it will hit the spot, one never knows... Thank you for recommendation.
