Saw your comment on "The Big Hurt" by Scott Walker, which directed me to a truly great Last.FM profile :-) Cheers from Hamburg, Germany!

Hi Larry. I don't know how we became friends on here, but I'm digging what you're spinning. I wonder what you listened to when you were my age?

that is a line-up I'd be sad to miss, though the addition of Bonnie Bear would make it truly epic! while we're here, should I resist recommending anything outside of 1967-1974 until you've moved forward (or backward)? and ps -- watch out behind you..

"I love how she laughs on the 4-Track Demos version. Either she's cracking up at the song or at how she is teasing the guy" ... just read that shout from you on my favorite PJ Harvey song, while listening to her 4-Track Demos album. You, sir, are my friend :D

Hi. Thanks for stopping by! The Apartments are a new discovery for me. Thanks to your comment, though, I'll be sure to include that album with the music I bring on my road trip this week. :)

why thank you! some songs just have that effect on me, it's almost synaesthetic. that particular tune (and what a tune), in fact, quite a lot of mid-90s Yo La Tengo, brings to mind the many sensations of being on the road. Ira has great taste in distortion, am I right?

Hey, you were on my neighbors page, and then I realized that you are the (wonderful) man, who made the huge Game Theory/Loud Family lyrics site. Thank you, for that.

Reunion shows.. hum, yes, the pixies were a bit of a spectacle, but I'm really glad I got to see them. Kind of a similar thing... tickets sold out several months in advance and they ended up doing 3 shows in the same venue. I think I'd probably enjoy Pavement more though, even if it were from a distance. btw it's nice to meet another programmer on here with similar taste in music (i.e. not Metallica)

Man I can never remember the films I like. Gotta write them down. My dvds are in storage. I used to say Wings of Desire-more for the idea behind the film than actually enjoying watching it though. Now I say Last Life In The Universe. Beautifully shot by rockstar DP Christopher Doyle, offbeat story, hot babe: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tU2QhICrdgY I like the odd music doc like Scratch, Planet B Boy, and many older flicks like Breaking Away and Crouching Tiger...

Nice to meet so many Scott Miller fans. I did see the Loud Family live a couple of times, in Manhattan, Hoboken, and one memorable time at Bottom of the Hill in San Francisco.

Yes... Scott Miller / Loud Family / Game Theory. I bought the Lolita Nation LP back in the day and couldn't stop listening to it. Sadly, I no longer have it but the memories remain... every now and then "The World's Easiest Job" or "We Love You Carol and Alison" or "Andy.." pops into my noggin. Loud Family is delightful and I share 'Gramfan's enthusiasm for "Plants & Birds..." and other LF works.

Howdy. Nice to talk to another Scott Miller fan. Don't know what it is about his stuff. I heard The Real Sheila on a Boulder station back in 1990, picked up Lolita Nation and was hooked. My favorite album is Loud Family Plant&Birds, but all of his stuff is fascinating. I have to admit my attempts to share my enthusiasm have fallen on mainly deaf ears, so I suppose there's some form of genetic predisposition that has an influence. I'm mainly an alt-country, yallternative type guy, and I play with a bluegrass group, so go figure. Top bands through the years like this...Yardbirds, Byrds, Airplane, Doors, Roxy, Van the Man, Little Feat, Burritos, Steve Earle, Son Volt, so not much paisley underground or what ever. Well, do dig the Dandies and Jonestown. Pic on my avatar is me playing blues harp at a joint in St Louie. Give a shout sometime!

Told me to leave a shout and I don't disappoint. Yes, the way Lucinda pronounces "coffee" on Car Wheels always gets me too. If you're a fan of Velvet Underground I recommend tracking down a cover of All Tomorrow's Parties by June Tabor and the Oysterband. Loads of fun. Cheers.

Yes, I like Young Marble Giants a lot. I saw them at Maxwell's in Hoboken, NJ in 1980 or 81.
