My college was doing a mentor scheme and I'm apparently the best in the whole college. And okay then, I was just wondering if you knew what it would be like on the inside. I'm obviously really excited about it, I feel like this could be a real foot in the door for me.

don't you do the whole music journalism thing? I scored an apprenticeship/mentorship thing at The Guardian with Gary Mulholland whoever that is, do you know anything about what it's gonna be like?

I am almost certain I downloaded this comp, I remember it being advertised on TV at least anyway. Was reading up about Niche and all that earlier today. While I can see why the chavs might this sort of thing, I still think it's pretty legit stuff. Also I am considering getting into Grime some more after listening to the new Terror Danjah LP, particularly this badman riddim on it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_YrIHigmhjY

Yo that's bassline? I swear I have heard this sample on a few DJ EZ UKG compilations. Sounds proper good though, reminds me of my youth growing up with all the UKG around. And yeah man, UK Bass is horrible in terms of where it gets it sound from. I hear stuff which can only really be called UK Bass and think "BUT THIS IS JUST UKG FOR GOD'S SAKE" and at the same time admit that it's still too different from traditional UKG. Anyway I hope the Breakbeat trend continues in UK Bass. To be honest it's a genre I really like, I just don't follow it as actively as I do for Breaks, I still know where to look for big releases and shit, although I am often surprised when stuff is released as I am unaware they were planned and things.

That Wheez-ie EP sounds sick, great use of that Baby D sample (although they probably used it because Manix used it first and his track with that sample was massive). And that other track sound really good as well, I've only sort of heard of bassline but not really heard anything of the genre, but it might be something I have to check out. I kind of feel like Breakbeat Hardcore is kind of becoming a presence again, lots of producers seem to be messing around with it somewhat. This is a direction that I would definitely like UK Bass to go in.

Had a listen to those tracks. Fracture is such a legit producer, more or less everything he does is quality. That Juke Jungle I was telling you about was this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mGUg4HWAu8U. I did have links for some albums of this but I seem to have misplaced them. The other track was amazing as well (was that producer by Thom Yorke? Dayum). This is the latest UK Bass Breakbeat thing I have been into: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vV_5Mnleblw. Although admittedly there is no real UK Bass influence in it, but still, it's Plastician.

I'll be posting who I've checked out from that list now and again. Already like... Shlohmo Clams Casino Squarepusher and Ventian Snares I'm making playlists on Spotify with all the artists as we speak.
