i had not listened to this album in so long that relistening to it i was blown away again. I still enjoy The Royal Scam more but they are both just brilliant.

The great measuring stick by which all sound systems are to be judged, whether it's headphones, earbuds, new car speakers, it starts with Black Cow and the test doesn't stop until Josie does.

I think it's cool to write a song about and name an album after your friend's brother's girlfriend that you wanted to have sex with in high school.

This is truly one of the only records I can confidently say is a masterpiece. 10/10. It really is flawless. By far the Dan's best work. It's just absolute quality in every aspect.

This album is impeccable to a point that intimidates me as an artist. Not just in audio quality, although that plays a part, but in the sheer skill of songwriting and attention to detail that went into each track. Deacon Blues is a perfect example of this; it will probably always remain one of my favorite songs.

Agreed. This album deserves to be played in the absolute best quality possible, given the incredible attention to detail and craftsmanship that went into making it one of the best sounding records ever made.

As others have said, this is the perfect album to show off a high end stereo setup. Everything is crystal clear and sounds like Steely Dan is actually in your living room playing this music for you. "Deacon Blues" is one of my favorite Dan songs and has some of my favorite lyrics of all time.

I remember Ian Dury describing "Aja" as a West Coast album made by these dudes from the East Coast - I think that's right, it makes you think about California sunshine, y'know? And @ McLovinSpoonful: Yeah, man! I heard that, during the 1970s (and beyond), Hi-Fi shops would always have a copy ready to put on the turntable to show their customers the merits of their merchandise!
