both hotels are directly at Essen Mainstation and a taxi ride to the venue is just about 5€ if you have luck with the traffic and red lights. Or other option take the subway.
The Venue is like 700/800 meters from the Mainstation, its like a 5-10 minutes walk.
IF YOU COME FROM FAR BY PLANE:
the two best choices for airports are AIRPORT DUSSELDORF, which has a direct connection to Essen mainstation via Train, a ride is about 9€.
and AIRPORT DUSSELDORF WEEZE which has a Bus Shuttle going to Essen Mainstation and is about 15€ per person and ride.

Düsseldorf WEEZE - Essen Mainstation
A bustransfer is going from the Airport to Essen Mainstation. there are Vans going like every half an hour so. the ride is 16€ per person i think and it is the easiest and also cheapest way to Essen.
Düsseldorf Interntional (DUS) - Essen Mainstation
Take the Trainline "S1" towards Dortmund. it will stop at Essen Mainstation. You will have to get a ticket at the ticket machine. It should be somewhere on the Platform or close by.

Essen City - Venue
The easiest & cheapest way is to split a taxi with 3 or 4 people. its a short ride and shouldnt be more than 2€ per person.

you can also go via subway. the tubestation is directly at the mainstation.
take the "U18" towards Mülheim Hbf and get off at "Savignystr / ETEC". then walk like it is marked on the map.
