Dechen Shak-Dagsay's latest Music Album "JEWEL" produced by Helge Van Dyk has been in the Top 100 Swiss Charts for the last couple of weeks and is now also available in most European countries through either Amazon or iTunes. It can also be purchased on the Artists website: http://www.dechen-shak.com/ for a worldwide delivery.
Dechen Shak-Dagsay is a Tibetan who has spent most of her life in Switzerland. She was very proud of her Tibetan origin and loved to sing the Tibetan songs with her late mother. She was always very impressed by the serenity and calm which she felt whenever her parents and grandparents practiced the Buddhist daily prayers at home. Over the years it was this kind of strong precious feeling of belonging and comfort that she wanted to share with others.
When her father Dagsay Rinpoche wrote his book "Practice of Tibetan Meditation" he suggested that Dechen should sing the Mantras that he was explaining in his book. These Mantras were captured on her Debut Album “Dewa Che, Universal Healing Power of Tibetan Mantras” and surprised everybody with its great success.
2001 she quit her job as Marketing Assistant in an international Company where she had worked for nearly 20 years and dedicated herself fully to her musical career. Her second album “Shi De, A call for World peace” followed in 2002 and at the end of 2004 her third album “Dcham Sem, inner peace through the Power of Compassion” was released. The fourth Album called “Tara Devi, Inner Journey toward ultimate Happiness” is out since December 2006 and was awarded “Best Devotional Album” by the Tibetan Community and in November 2007 her debut Album “Dewa Che” was given Gold Status for Switzerland.
Dechen is convinced that the Swiss documentary Film „Daheim in zwei Welten“ which covers Dechen’s personal story of her family and their social projects in Tibet has been very helpful to create awareness for Tibet and its people and also bring her Music to the hearts of many people. Published by Polyglobe, her music is being distributed mostly by Silenzio Music in Germany. Since 2005 her Music is being promoted very successfully in the U.S.A., Canada and South America by New Earth Records and was given the “Best Spiritual Music Award 2005” by the renowned “American Health Magazine”
In November 2008, after 10 years with Polyglobe Music Dechen has left this label in order to become an independent artist again. Dechen enjoyed her cooperation with Polyglobe Music, Austria a lot and is convinced that all the the albums that were produced during that time will continue to bring peace and harmony to people for many years to come.
Dechen says: “ I am very happy and thankful, that I can reach out to so many people and touch their hearts and take them to their innate source of love and compassion.”
An important task that Dechen took on together with her younger sisters Dolkar Dagsay and Dega Faoro are the social projects in Tibet, that their parents initiated nearly 25 years ago. When their dear mother Yischi Tsedön Dagsay passed away in 2002 they decided to continue the work in memory of their beloved mother. Together with their friends in Switzerland they founded the association "Friends of the Tsedön Clinic in Tibet" and with the meanwhile almost 100 members they are able to finance the cost of staff, medicine and maintenance of the clinic. They are also able to support 13 young Tibetan students from poor families to get a High School education. Detailed reports on the projects can be seen on: http://www.tsedoen.ch/
