Unique IDs for each artist already exist, in fact there are several options to chose from. The problem is that us listeners do not use those IDs when we scrobble tracks, so last.fm (and similar sites) can't easily separate them. A partial solution would be to use the artist names and track titles to group things, but it'd be a lot of effort to do and fail as soon as two artists with the same name released tracks with the same titles.

I wonder how the Turkish, French and texan versions of ASP fans feel amongst all this discourse

It's about time LastFM developed a filter to separate artists with the same name. It's not funny that a few kiddies who weren't even born when a band was formed can mess up the statistics.

"Me" von ASP hat mich jetzt entgültig gepackt^^' nachdem ich vor Monaten auf "Werben"/"Duett" und ein paar andere bekannte Lieder abgefahren bin, bin ich jetzt völlig im Bann von diesem einen Lied. Heftig, wie schön düstere Musik sein kann <3

Ich habe es erst 1 1/2 Mal gehört, aber bisher hat es für mich gute Chancen ganz vorne bei Maskenhaft mitzuspielen, was die Belanglosigkeit betrifft. Keine Ahnung ob das an der "Ein neues Meisterwerk vom Meister"-Schleife liegt, in der das ASP-Fandom seit Jahren festhängt. Auf jeden Fall darf man sich wohl nicht wundern, dass auf unkritische Vergötterung irgendwann nur noch prätentiöses Mittelmaß folgt.

Mir ergeht es mit "Kosmonautilus" ähnlich wie schon mit den letzten Alben: es packt mich nicht, nach spätestens fünf oder sechs Songs schalte ich gelangweilt ab; wobei ich dieses Mal - glaube ich - ein bisschen länger durchgehalten habe. Nichtsdestotrotz erscheinen mir viele der Kompositionen zu gleichförmig, Tempowechsel oder gar einprägsame Momente sucht man vergebens. Denjenigen, die jedes neue Album als das beste allerzeiten ausrufen, wird das sicherlich wieder vorzüglich munden, aber für mich hat das nichts mehr mit dem charismatisch-verträumten Gothic Novel Rock zu tun, der und den diese Band einst definiert hat. Stattdessen hört man austauschbares, dahinplätscherndes Allerlei, das man ohne ASPs charakteristischen Gesang nicht mal mehr als ASP identifizieren könnte.

Das neue Album überzeugt mich leider so gar nicht. Ich bin seit 2006 dabei und vermisse den alten Sound. Dennoch hängt mein Herz sehr an der Band. Ich denke, ich mach mal Pause und hoffe, dass wir es hier nicht mit dem typischen "Musik für die Massen"-Phänomen zu tun kriegen, weil sich Schlager halt an breitere Masse verkaufen lässt. Ernsthaft, das fühlt sich an, als ob mein Herz zerreißt, wenn ASP sich so von mir entfernen :(
