Can't believe it's almost been a year since we first opened the doors of Sub Club on a Thursday for Rubix. A lot has happened in that year - we've heard some killer DJ sets from the likes of Pariah, Dauwd, Tessela, Arkist, Eliphino and Bondax to name a few, had a fire alarm and a crowd surfer, ended the night with 'Midas Touch' twice, someone climbed into a speaker, a couple got turfed out for shagging, we've decked the Subby with UV tinsel, and ended up on STV when we turned the club into a womb with our mates over at Philanthrobeats. So here's a massive thank you to everyone who's come down and made the night into such a success, especially all of you who helped us raise so much money for V Day. To celebrate our first year on this Earth, we've made a very special booking...

OBJEKT (2 Hour Set)

We're very excited to be welcoming TJ Hertz, known to the world as Objekt, to the Sub Club for our first birthday bash. The Berlin-based DJ and producer catapulted onto the radars of discerning music fans in 2011 with the release of a couple of mysterious white labels named simply 'Objekt #1' and 'Objekt #2'. These two records were vessels for four benchmark tracks: 'The Goose That Got Away', 'Unglued', 'Tinderbox' and and 'CLK Recovery'. The way in which these tunes welded the swollen sub-bass growls and unstable, stuttering rhythms of dubstep with the punchy intensity and booming drums of techno set a gold standard for a sound pursued by sonic innovators like Joy O, Boddika, Blawan and Pariah. The rabid reactions induced by these weapons led to the release of 'Cactus/Porcupine' on the inimitable Hessle Audio, another two-hit combination that almost broke a few dancefloors around the globe. Many reading this will have heard at least a few, if not possibly all, of these tracks blasting out of Sub Club's soundsystem, and will have borne witness to the insanity they can cause. As a DJ, like his role as producer, Objekt does away with convention and refuses to pander, whipping clubbers and festivalgoers into a frenzy with new sounds and otherworldly rhythms. Can't fucking wait.

BAKE (2 Hour set)

We're also stoked for the return of the home-grown All Caps don Bake after his absurdly good set in January. Bake is a bonafide local hero. He's played everywhere and with everyone: Scuba, Joy Orbison, Machinedrum and Loefah to name but a few. Pariah rates him as 'the next Ben UFO', he's back-to-backed with Blawan and Jackmaster, and, on top of that, Hessle Audio had him tear up their 2011 Boiler Room takeover as an exclusive special guest. Away from the decks, his All Caps label is fast becoming a great ambassador for Glasgow's bubbling music scene, releasing work from Helix, Kowton and Rubix favourite Alex Coulton.
