Description
With a climate regognised as the best in Australia, the sunny coastal town of Port Macquarie will for the fifth year, host Festival of the Sun held at Sundowner Breakwall Tourist Park – and this year is set to be the very best yet. Big call, but this year’s entertainment includes some of Australia’s favourite musical acts, mashed with the sounds of some of the country’s brightest stars to have recently burst onto the Oz music scene.
So without further adieu, the cracking first line-up announcement is as follows: Spiderbait, Little Birdy, The Beautiful Girls, Children Collide, Urthboy, Pez, Philadelphia Grand Jury, Bob Log III, The Wilson Pickers, Grant Walmsley & The Agents Of Piece, Bonjah, Red Ink, Chris Pickering, Eliza Ellen, Purple Sneakers DJ's + more to be announced...
Organisers are absolutely stoked on this year’s swag of marvellous Aussie talent amping up to grace the beachside stage on December 11th and 12th, but there is some additional news for FOTSUN punters this year – moving forward, Festival of the Sun (which is still BYO!!) will be a 18’s+ event.
And yes, there are only still only 3,000 golden tickets sold to this event.
The great news is however, we have not forgotten about our younger companions in need of some soul-fulfilling sounds, and have thus dedicated an event on Sunday Dec 13th gig to our under 20’s, aptly named Summer Harvest. Attendees will delight in the tunes from a handful of the FOTSUN line up in a safe, drug and alcohol-free environment at Summer Harvest, housed at Port Macquaire Panthers including; Little Birdy, Children Collide, Urthboy, Barrel House and Purple Sneakers DJ's with further acts TBA.
So, we understand Port Mac might be a minor treck for some, but oh-so-worth the road trip. On site camping as usual, is included in your ticket price but if you and your fellow festival goers prefer to live the festival high-life, there are an array of self-contained cottages, thanks to Sundowner Breakwall Tourist Park, in which to rest your weary head – just a word of advice: get in quick as these babies get snapped up mighty fast.
As we at FOTSUN wish for only the best experience for all involved, we have taken the liberty of devising a survival list for this year’s bash:
There is water/fabulous beaches so bring togs/beach ball/snorkel/swimming cap; there is sun so bring SPF/sun goggles/H2O; there are NO bars so bring esky packed with tinnies (no glass); there could be chilly nights so bring beanie/fave festival jacket/snuggle rug; there could be rain so bring gumbies/emergency poncho; and finally, there will be music (and damn good music at that) so bring your groove/best dancing shoes.
Summer, sun, sand, surf and sensational sounds = FOTSUN 2009!
Early Birds can buy their tickets from Sept 1 for the tasty price of $99 +BF and Gen Admission tickets are on sale from Oct 1 for $120 +BF (camping included in both tix releases).
Summer Harvest tickets can be purchased from Oct 1 for $65 +BF.
*Keeping with their family values, kids under 10 gain free admission to FOTSUN, accompanied by an adult.
