Description
Dpercussion is 10… 10 years of new music… 10 years of change in this great city... This will be the last ever Dpercussion.
10 years since the IRA blew Manchester up and we started partying. Now, after 10 glorious years in Castlefield, it is with great regret that we announce this will be the last ever Dpercussion.
In 2006 we introduced a donation system, but even with this extra cash, ever increasing costs and lack of commercial support has meant the economics of the festival just don’t add up.
We would like to thank to all the volunteers, sponsors and partners who have stuck with us to make this event possible. A special mention must go to Manchester City Council who have jumped in at the last minute to guarantee that Dpercussion reaches its decade mark.
Since 1997 there have been so many great moments. Unknown names like Badly Drawn Boy, Mr Scruff and Snow Patrol stopped off at Dpercussion on their way to huge careers. In fact, it’s has always been about the hopefuls; the unsigned bands, Dj’s and club nights that step out of the venues and into the sunshine once a year. That’s what made Dpercussion stand out from the big identikit festivals that have grown up around the UK. The sheer ‘Manchester’ roots and energy of the event make it so special.
We would like to thank everyone who has helped make Dpercussion happen over the last 10 years including bands, Djs, production companies and all the lovely people who have worked at Ear to the Ground since 1997.
We want the 4th of August to be an amazing day of celebrating what Manchester has to offer musically. It’s been a great 10 years in Castlefield and we thank you for sharing it with us.
Dpercussion is dead – long live Manchester.
