Tony Williams (Chicago, 12 dicembre 1945 – San Francisco, 23 febbraio 1997) è stato un batterista statunitense di musica jazz.
Ricordato soprattutto per la sua partecipazione al secondo quintetto del grande trombettista Miles Davis, di cui costituì un elemento fondamentale e contribuendo ad orientarne le scelte stilistiche e musicali, Williams fu uno dei batteristi fondamentali sulla scena jazz degli ultimi anni del XX secolo.
Un infarto, a seguito di una banale operazione lo stroncò a soli 53 anni.
Nato a Chicago e cresciuto a Boston, Williams iniziò gli studi con il mastro batterista Alan Dawson in giovane età e iniziò a suonare professionalmente all'età di 13 anni con il sassofonista Sam Rivers. Jackie McLean ingaggiò Williams quando aveva 16 anni. A 17 Williams acquisì una fama considerevole con Miles Davis, unendosi a un gruppo che venne successivamente soprannominato "Il secondo grande quintetto di Davis". Il suo primo album da leader, 1964's Life Time (da non confondersi con il nome della sua band "Lifetime," che formò parecchi anni dopo) venne registrato durante il suo periodo di occupazione con Davis.
