Biography
Ψαρογιώργης (Γιώργης Ξυλούρης) was born on September 25th 1965 Anogeia Crete. He comes from a long line of Cretan musicians. His grandfather, father and uncles are respected musicians. He grew up in his village of Anogeia listening to musicians and watching dancers where the traditions are strong. Giorgis has been playing lute with his father (Psarantonis) since he was twelve years old and has continued to accompany him in Europe, America, Canada and Australia. He lived in Australia for eight years where he played with his band, Xylouris Ensemble, with whom he released four CDs.He presently performs all over Crete with well known musicians, teaches, records, and continues to carry his tradition.
