老王樂隊 (Lǎowáng yuèduì) is a Chinese Post-folk/Rock band from Chinese Taipei formed in Winter 2015. They have gained local prominence, winning multiple awards including Chengchi Jin Xuan Award and National Tsing Hua Qing Yun award.
The band's Chinese name, 老王樂隊 (Lǎowáng yuèduì), directly translates to "Old Wang Band." In Chinese, "Old Wang" is often used as slang for the man next door who his wife has an affair with. This is the origin of the band's English name, Your Woman Sleep With Others.
At the end of 2016, They became 5 band members with lead singer Zhang Lichang, Tong Weishuo (guitar), Liao Jiemin (drums), Feng Huiyuan (bass), and Shao Jiaying (cello).The band is most well-known for their EP Stolen Childhood (吾十有五而志於學), which focuses on the failures of the Taiwanese education system. In 2018, the band won the Golden Indie Award Best Folk Single for the song "Cram Schools Killed the Children" on the same album. The song became a hit on YouTube within short amount of time.
Lao Wang, that is, the red apricot goes out of the wall, with humorous and ironic terms; "Lao Wang" is a character who is both inside and outside of the relationship, symbolizing humour, irony, and criticism that floats in the world.
Just like the musical characteristics, the Pharaoh Band never forgets to use humorous, ironic words and melody when singing a generation of grotesques. With a husky, slightly world-weary voice, the low and reverberating cello, repetitive and brainwashed melody, sing humorously. The song belongs to this generation. Making impressive music and telling stories is the joy of the world.
It was established in Taipei in the winter of 2015. At first, he was born to participate in campus competitions. After he won the second place of the Beijing Medical Golden String Award, he was suspended indefinitely.
2016 end to long-standing lead singer, drummer yuan, guitarist Wei Shuo core restructuring, continue to show up on campus competition; thereafter sequentially in light Jiangjin Shao Jie Min Prize and the bassist, National Chengchi University Jinxuan Award and cellist Yu萱 Cooperation. Later, because of another career plan, Yu Xuan left the group before the release of the first EP "I am Five Aspirations to Learn". The cellist was taken over by Jiaying and became the organization of the Lao Wang Band today.
In the fall of 2017, the first physical EP "I have five and I am determined to learn" was released, and it was also digitally released on major music platforms.
In the fall of 2019, the first complete album "My Day Three Reflects My Body" was released, which was also digitally released on major music platforms simultaneously
