Daniel Chan started singing in 1993. He became a student of Dai Si-Chung, a famous singing teacher in Hong Kong, who is also the teacher of Leon Lai. He signed a contract with Dai Si-Chung's "Sing Fai" entertainment company in 1994 and later signed a singing contract with Polygram Records Ltd.

Daniel's parents have separated.
Daniel's brother (one year younger than him) has a nickname as "Ding Ding".
He and his youngest brother have the same father but different mothers. This is why Daniel is 20 years older than his little brother.
Daniel's first love was in middle school.
He released his first album, "Open the Sky", in 1994 with Kelly Chan, Joyce Yau, and Ray Chan.
In 1996, his fan club, Danieland, was officially established.
Some of his earliest commercials are Marlboro Red Hot Hit '95 "Open the Sky," Vivasoy '96 "Understand Everything of You," and Star Travel '97 "Care About Your Feelings."
He was nominated for "Best Newcomer" in the the 1997 Hong Kong Golden Statue Movie Awards for the movie, "Hu Du Men."
