Yoo Seung Jun was born on December 15, 1976, in Seoul, South Korea. He moved to the United States as a child where he grew up. In school, Yoo Seung Jun was usually discriminated against by white people like most immigrants were, and he did poorly as he was involved in gang activity and drugs. He eventually overcame his problems, and started singing in the choir of a church. While serving for the choir in his church, he found his expertise which is singing and dancing. Therefore, he video taped and made demos of his rapping and dancing. Yoo Seung Jun was scouted eventually and his fame quickly grew with his first album West Side in 1997 with his single “Gawi,” but then his career crashed when he was forced to do military service (all males in South Korea at the age of 20-25 are obligated to serve in the military for 2 years). He promised to attend the military because he thought he would not be getting his American citizenship which he applied for earlier. A month after he promised, he recieved his American citizenship, thus moving to America permanently. He currently resides in Los Angeles, California and is married to his childhood friend Christine Oh. He is currently a popular singer rising to fame again in China/Taiwan.
