Biography
An impending deadline was the starting line of this band's course. In May 2003, six students from a modern music school in Piraeus were given 48 hours to come up with, rehearse and finally perform a 3 hour long live disco - funk set in a newly founded live music club in the Athenian port of Piraeus. After the success of the whole venture the guys (and girl) automatically got the nickname: "The 48 Hour Band" and so “the 48 Hours” became official since the band members liked the symbolism referring to the frenzy of the modern urban life.
Since then and after many changes in its lineup, the band very rapidly evolved to be one of Athens' biggest modern live party-time attractions appearing in TV Shows and playing in numerous well known clubs and festivals in Athens.
In 2009 the band took part in the Greek X-Factor talent show, made it to the final and came up in the 3rd place.
In 2011 their debut CD named "48:00:00" was released. Songs like "Ignorant With Guns", the cover of Tanita Tikaram's "Twist In My Sobriety", Jethro Tull's "Locomotive Breath" and the Greek spoken "Gine" depicted the band's versatility and musical prowess.
In 2011 The 48 Hours were chosen to be the resident band playing in the Greek equivalent of America's "The Late Show". The show aired for three consecutive seasons with the 48 Hours covering so far more than 1000 songs.
