Biography
2007 will find Aaron Lee recording his own solo debut called "Hard Love and Free Luck." The record features Tony Garnier (Bob Dylan) and Catherine Popper (Ryan Adams and The Cardinals) and Bruce Brody (Patty Smith Group, U2). The allstar backing band also includes Mark Stepro (Ben Kweller), Rich Hinman (The Last Town Chorus), Rob Heath and Johnny Kengla of the legendary, wrecklessly brilliant brooklyn-based band The Madison Square Gardeners. And as always the sounds and presence of Aaron's good friend and musical mentor Kevn Kinney are heard and felt.
"Hard Love & Free Luck" has been a long time coming for the musical whiz kid who's spent the last few years on the road with all sorts of singers and bands. "A folk record steeped in the grand traditions of Rock 'N' Roll with flashes of homeless gutter outlaws trying to win the lottery without a ticket," is how Tasjan describes the new album. Like some fabulous collection of hillbilly stories told over someone's family reunion the songs take you wondering through the worst and best parts of the young singer's mind. At 22 he's traveled the world playing for thousands at times and for no one at others. Known as a storyteller and mesmerizing performer Aaron Lee Tasjan seems to be rumbling down the track, off to some distant faraway stomp blues juke joint where you play 8 sets a night 'till everyone's gone and it's just you and the bartender talkin' about how the Wawa Deli midway from New York to Ohio makes a damn fine turkey sandwich….The record will be out in early 2008.
Aaron Lee Tasjan makes a lot of noise as a songwriter and guitarist extraordinaire. He's handled guitar/bkg vocal duties for Grammy Award winner Marc Cohn, Kevn Kinney, Kevn Kinney's STAR, Drivin' N Cryin', Peter Yarrow (Peter Paul and Mary), Jennifer Glass, Kristina Train (Blue Note Records), Derek James, Alison Brietman and many others. As a songwriter he's traveled the US and Europe promoting his now deceased band Autumn Under Echoes who played a brief number of shows under the name Swig Tooth. In 2005 he started The NYC Garage-Glam out fit Semi Precious Weapons with his good friend and the last modern rockstar Justin "Precious" Tran ter. SPW has recorded a brand new LP entitled, "We Love You," produced by Tony Visconti and Mario McNulty. Visit www.semipreciousweapons.com for more.
