Ada Morghe aka Alexandra Helmig is an artist living in Munich and London. She works as an actress, singer and author. Her latest screenplay “Frau Mutter Tier” was made into a movie starring Julia Jentsch and other well-known movie and theatre actors. It will be released nationwide in cinemas on march 21, 2019. She plays one of the lead roles and has written a song for the soundtrack.

Music has been an important part of Alexandra’s life since childhood. Apart from classical piano lessons, she discovered an early passion for improvising. She took singing lessons with Jazz singer Karen Edwards in Munich and educated herself in workshops and master classes, among others with jazz singer Fay Victor at the New York Jazz School. In 2014 she was elected by Claus Reichstaller to participate in the “Jazz Masters Workshop” at the Jazz Academy Burghausen. Alexandra has been performing under her stage name ‘Ada Morghe’ for four years with jazz guitarist Uli Graner and band – mainly jazz standards and cover songs. The album at hand is her debut containing her own compositions.
The album was produced by internationally renowned producer and audio engineer Hans-Martin Buff (i.a. Prince, Scorpions). The recordings were made in November 2017 at Abbey Road Studios under the musical supervision of producer and bassist Livingstone Brown (i.a. Robin Trower, Tina Turner), with Luke Smith on keyboard (i.a. Amy Winehouse), Luca Boscagin at the guitar (i.a. John Abercrombie) and Josh “Nasty” McKenzie on drums (i.a. Wretch 32). The collaboration was extraordinarily inspiring for everyone and a foundation for the musical journey ahead. Further contributors to the album were Hamburg-based violinist Stefan Pintev (G-strings) as well as US-based trombone player Michael B. Nelson (hornheads).
