Biography
Born in Budapest, Hungary, Adam Balazs began playing the piano at the age of seven. He completed his musical studies at the Bela Bartok Conservatory majoring in Composition. In 1998, in pursuit of his musical career, Adam moved to the United States. Over the past eleven years, he has worked on several film projects as the composer, producer, arranger and music supervisor.
As a film composer, Adam's work includes the score for The Butterfly Effect 3: Revelations (Lionsgate US domestic release), themes and additional music for the Secret of Moonacre (WB distribution in the UK) with Ioan Gruffudd and Natascha McElhone, the score for El Camino starring Leo Fitzpatrick, Wes Studi and Elisabeth Moss, The Elephant King starring Ellen Burstyn and Jonno Roberts (Official Selection - Tribeca Film Festival 2006), California Dreaming starring Lea Thompson, Dave Foley and Patricia Richardson, Arizona Seaside, Slingers (“Best Narrative Short” – San Diego Intl. Film Festival), Security, My Name is Alan (Best Documentary – Monaco Charity Film Festival and New York International Independent Film Festival), Hot Lunch ("Best Feature" - Woods Hole Film Festival, Red Bank Int. Film Festival, Coney Island Film Festival), The Valley of Tears, Shock Act ("Best Narrative Short" - Tribeca Film Festival), All About You, Lucky Man, The Killer Next Door starring Billy Dee Williams and Tobin Bell, The Library starring Brian Greenberg and Eric Weiner (Grand Prize - Brooklyn Film Festival). His music was featured in the soundtrack of Bedazzled (featuring Brendan Fraser and Elizabeth Hurley) and in the hit-show "Friends" (NBC), among others.
As a music supervisor, Adam has worked on The Butterfly Effect 3: Revelations and the multi-award winning comedies Hot Lunch and Slingers.
Adam's commercial credits include HBO (network and off-channel image), Cinemax (complete network re-design for Cinemax, and all multiplex channels), NBC-News, Coca-Cola, Sirius XAct and Armani Exchange. He also wrote music for C-NBC (In Profile) and MS-NBC (Headliners and Legends).
Adam is also the first Hungarian composer to premiere his work, ‘Path of the Extraordinary’ at Carnegie Hall since Bela Bartok premiered his ‘Concerto For Orchestra’, January 11, 1944.
In 2000, Adam founded Yellowgator Productions, a company providing services in music composition and production, music supervision and music consultancy. Spanning from Independent and studio productions to TV and Commercial work, the company's clients include HBO, Cinemax, 20th Century Fox, The Weinstein Company, BenderSpink, Infinity Features, Unison Films, After Dark Films and Appendix Productions.
