Biography
Aeroilis is a Brazilian alternative rock band founded in Florianópolis, Santa Catarina in 2001. It is currently composed of the founders Raphael Campos (vocals, keyboard, and guitar) and Arvid Auras (drums), as well as bassist Alan Wenning, who has been a member since 2006. The band is a precursor to the so-called "novo movimento," an artistic movement in which Brazilian Christian artists and musicians seek to make music without religious intentions, succeeded by several rock groups such as Tanlan and Palavrantiga.
Aeroilis' first work was independently released in 2004 and titled Aeroilis. The work received regular attention from the public and caught the attention of the record label Bompastor, which re-released the work the following year under a 3-year contract. The second work was Nada Mais Além (2010), which was more piano and keyboard-driven compared to the previous work. After performing shows and presentations throughout Brazil from 2010 to 2012, the band decided to end its activities in early 2013. In 2019, the band resumed activity as a trio.
During its career, the band has shown influences from several post-Britpop and 1990s British rock bands, such as Travis, Manic Street Preachers, Radiohead, Keane, and Muse, as well as American bands such as Switchfoot and Jars of Clay. The two albums of the group have gained a cult aspect and are commonly cited in religious lists of best albums.
