Hailing from the trenches of rural Belfast, Maine Afghan Banana Stand fuses together elements of Punk, Rock and Ska (no horns) into a fun and energetic musical experience. Some of their influences and musical tastes include the likes of NOFX, The Offspring, Reel Big Fish, Rancid and The Mighty Mighty Bosstones. On May 11, 2007 they professionally recorded their first EP, Brazilian Bikini Tan, at RockME Studios in Brewer, ME with Cory Deshane from the New England School of Communications. The EP features 6 songs, focusing on their Punk roots (Bloody Saturday Night and Patterson Hill), their Ska tendencies (Lulu and Nuke the Whales) and their Hard Rock edge (Salvia and Polygamy Jimmy). The CDs will be available around the beginning of June and be available through the band, at Belfast Music, Wild Rufus Records in Camden, and a few other undetremined locations. The band has been in its present incarnation for a little over a year with Vint Whitcomb on Vocals, Paul Staples on Guitar, Aaron Mitchell on Bass and Austin Turner on Drums.
