Its a gift and a curse that no other band has ever reached the magic of Agalloch..

exactly, even though I don't listen to agalloch that much anymore, it was the band I listened to the most in my entire life, like in 2012- 2014 i had like 5000 plays on my old last fm if i remember correctly, every time I hear one of their songs I'm transported to that exact time, the shitty adolescence of a depressed young man, I know that several bands have this power and saying that sounds cliche, but agalloch is almost magical, I still consider it one of my favorite bands even though I don't listen to it as much. the mantle, ashes and pale folklore are incredible.

Finally, after all of these years I finally got to see Agalloch live. Even if this tour is just a reunion, it was magical seeing them.

Pale Folklore >>> everything else. Yes, almost all of what they did is godlike but nothing was as consistent, straightforward, and memorable as Pale Folklore. Every track is perfection with She Painted trilogy being the finest music they've ever written. Its funny that they peaked in the first track of the first album they released. Anyone who disagrees is wrong and clearly haven't seen the nightfall or had it call to them like a river of shadows nor listened to the cries of a thousand ravens.

tbh i must admit with a degree of shame that i've not really given post AAtG material anything than a background listen, i was also going through a non-metal phase then, i will now thanks.

What you miss is that art is a very subjectief and personal thing, so very personal. You and everyone else has different opinions.

In other words, water is wet. and btw, I have trained for decades to be an ordained minister for good taste when it comes to USBM so my list is opinion is pretty much canon.

It's a matter of time but I don't think it would have any of the same old magic though, John got cancelled hard for making a fuckin joke, which, by all means is a valid opinion of an individual despite how off color it may be - nothing is above mockery and criticism in this world. And his mates were lightning quick to throw him under the bus as well. Anyways, a new album is inevitable.

Thank you, Agalloch. After all these years and countless gigs, this show has truly been the most uplifting experience I've ever witnessed. It's always a blast to see you perform live, but this reunion show, set in this absolutely incredible location, is an unforgettable memory that will stay with me for a lifetime. I didn't realize a live concert could make me feel this way, and even three days later, I'm still smiling and feeling like I'm 20 years younger. Thank you for such an incredible night.

Their discography also has moments that compliment the smoke filled and orange-pink hued skies of wildfire season. That's when I'm most likely to listen to The Serpent & The Sphere material for some reason :|

My favorite part was when they said “It’s Agalloching time” and Agalloched all over the cold forgotten landscape

I think this band will be actual for long time in the future even though they (sadly) split up. Their music sound so natural (in both senses) and modern at the same time, while their best stuff is more than 20 years old already. The Mantle and Pale Folklore can hardly be outdone.

They have no bad albums, however Marrow of the Spirit is such a unique and moody black metal album, I think the only album I've heard that hits the same moodiness and perfect atmosphere is Exuvia by Ruins of Beverast. I miss Agalloch so much though. Its such a shame they broke up.

You are right, Marrow is such a good and sometimes kinda underrated album, as per my comment above :D I mentioned their early releases, but in fact everything they've put is splendid, including the absolutely stunning Ep's.

Hello, fellow Agalloch listeners! I'm vocalist on the band Aurora Ortus. Our new album Ostara has just released, and the last track is a cover of Hallways of Enchanted Ebony. Please take a look! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J14ENi0tvaI&lc=UgxoWmuGVctgCGnIH6F4AaABAg&ab_channel=LoudBasementProductions

This is not metal. if anything it's pussy ass shoegaze, borderline pop music. This sounds like something that Taylor Swift would release.
