Biography

Alexander Malinin (Russian: Александр Малинин, real name Vyguzov; born 16 November 1958 in Sverdlovsk) is a singer from the and post-Soviet eras. He was awarded Honored Artist of Russia (1991) and People's Artist of Russia (1997).

He studied at the studio with pop Sverdlovsk Philharmonic. He was a soloist in the choir of the Ural Military District (1976-1977). In 1981 he performed with the vocal-instrumental ensemble "singing guitar". After moving to Moscow he studied at the music school named after Mikhail Ippolitov-Ivanov. He played in the ensemble of "Blue Guitar". From 1983 to 1986 he worked in a group of Stas Namin. In 1986 he toured America and the recorded albums. He won the Grand Prix at the competition "Jurmala-88". After that, he became one of the most popular artists of the Soviet Union.
