Biography
Alexey Zelensky was born in Moscow, Russia.
Growing up listening to Radiohead, Pink Floyd, Portishead, Auctyon and Leonid Fedorov, jewish and russian folk and avant-folk music, as well as classical and contemporary academic (for instance, Vladimir Martynov), Alexey freely blends genres and styles into one in his music.
Zelensky writes lyrics in english and russian. But his repertoire also contains songs in yiddish, ladino and german.
In 2012 he released indie album 'Cotton', which is indie by all means: it was recorded by Zelensky in Moscow and it's suburbs, using old synthesizers, piano, guitars and computer programming — you can hear a lot of real sounds of city and country side on the album as the songs were really being recorded where and when possible.
'Cotton' is available as a free digital download on Alexey's official website.
