Nee How! Tippi, Since the album's title is balaban, and the name refers to a reed instrument, it's probably the same. If I remember there's a similar Korean instrument. In the US we don't have a somthing similar. It's usually an electronic recording of some nameless chain smoker with asthma. (That was a little joke. ...Very little). Happy Chinese New Year!

this is not ney..this is mey (also known as duduk), they are completely different. Although duduk is known as the famous armenian instrument, it is used in eastern anatolia, georgia (duduki), azerbaijan,ukraine, bulgaria, russia(dudka), iran, serbia and many other places especially where turkish culture is dominant. Mey has also its variants, such as Balaban and etc.. In Ney (traditional turkish instrument), there is no mouthpiece, but in mey there exists..
