Biography

Altertango is an Argentine tango band, founded in 2000 in Mendoza, Argentina. The group is composed of Victoria di Raimondo (vocals), Elbi Olalla (piano), Gonzalo Tohme (bandoneón), Pablo Conalbi (drums and percussion) and Patricio Ibire (bass). Their first album was Altertango, released by the label Tatami Discos in early 2002, which has some versions of populars tango songs such as: Malena, Por una cabeza and Los pájaros perdidos. During 2003, the band began to be known in Argentina and Chile doing many gigs around those countries. In 2004, ALTERTANGO, their new record is edited by the label MDR Records, this album has some tango versions of famous Argentine rock songs, giving the band more popularity in the young public. Later, they would do gigs around Southern Cone, as well, France, Sweden and Spain. In 2007, they released their last work called TORMENTA, one more time by MDR Records, this album had many guests and the incorporation of one more electronic sound. In 2008, they took part of many festivals made in the context of Fiesta Nacional de la Vendimia a traditional celebration for the grape harvest in Mendoza, where the viticulture is the main economic and cultural activity.
