History (for posterity's sake):
Alton Bay, of Stratford, CT, came together in 2008 under Alex Dancho and Alex Van Olden, both members of the local Connecticut DIY music scene. The pair was looking for another musical outlet for ideas that didn't fit with the bands they were currently working with. After recording some demos and recruiting a bassist and drummer (Greg Kolenski and Steve Polito, respectively), they continued writing and started playing shows in the area.
Following rehearsals and some local shows, Polito was replaced by Tom Maclean (of Box Top Waltz and Skaliosis), and the four began working with Maclean on recording an EP of the material they had written so far. During the recording process, Maclean was replaced by Christian Eggers, but Maclean continued work in the studio, recording all the drum tracks for the EP. Dancho, Van Olden, Kolenski, and Eggers played a few shows together and then took a break from playing shows to concentrate on other projects and finishing the EP. After choosing to make it a self-titled release, the EP was released on April 21, 2010.
