American Standards was a chaotic hardcore band from Phoenix, Arizona, formed in 2011. Known for their raw energy and poignant social commentary, the band consisted of Brandon Kellum (vocals), Corey Skowronski (guitar), Steven Mandell (bass), and Mitch Hosier (drums). Over their career, American Standards built a reputation for their intense live performances and DIY ethos, having played over 400 shows and shared stages with notable acts like Every Time I Die, Norma Jean, and Atreyu.
Their music often delved into personal and societal issues, with their 2017 album "Anti-Melody" standing out as a particularly emotional release, dealing with themes of loss and separation following the deaths of their founding guitarist Cody Conrad and Kellum's father. This album, along with others, showcased their ability to blend hardcore punk with noise elements, creating a distinctive sound that was featured in prominent outlets like Alternative Press, Revolver Magazine, and Decibel Magazine.
In December 2023, American Standards played their farewell show, marking the end of an era for the band.
