Biography
Amir Farhoodi first came to the attention of the trance scene with his slick remake of the Envio classic, ‘Touched by the Sun’. Touched by the Sun showcased a blend of melancholic melodies combined with soaring pads and proved itself to be a worthy update to one of the most popular releases to grace the renowned A State of Trance label. Amir’s remix soon garnered support from No1 DJ Armin van Buuren, being play listed on his A State of Trance radio show. Such is the skill of his production, the Amir Farhoodi remix of ‘Touched by the Sun’ also appeared on two exclusive Armada Music compilations, ‘High Energy Trance’ and ‘Trance Top 30’. Without a doubt these are accolades usually reserved for more established producers, however with a promising production catalogue already receiving stellar support, it won’t be long ‘til you’ll be hearing the name “Amir Farhoodi” a lot more often.
Hailing from Tehran, Amir Farhoodi is one of a handful of young Iranian producers slowly making themselves heard on the global trance stage. Keen to carve a space for his original productions, his début solo release, ‘New Touch’ (available on Silent Shore Recordings) exuded a chunky progressive vibe with a distinct Persian undertone, proof that Farhoodi is keen to bring Middle Eastern influences in to his unique sound. The track received a remix from uplifting newcomer Suprano and collected sustained support from a wide range of well-known producers and DJs, including trance pioneer Solarstone, who hailed Amir Farhoodi as one of his favourite new producers.
Due to his fresh sound and accomplished production skills, Amir has become an in demand remixer and can now boast several remixes under his belt, with many more in the pipeline. Peppered with progressive percussion, a grumbling bass and uplifting elements, his 2010 remix of Ben Russell’s ‘Fatar’ (available on Lost Language Recordings) is a further example of Amir Farhoodi’s soon to be trademarked sound. So impressed with his ‘Fatar’ remix, the Lost Language bosses were quick to sign him – consequently, the label is now home to various future Amir Farhoodi releases due to hit the airwaves in mid to late 2011.
In the short time since his first release, Amir Farhoodi has emerged as one of the most exciting new purveyors of progressive trance. Producing a diverse range of sounds and enjoying early success with his releases, one thing’s for sure, Amir is certainly a producer on the crest of a wave.
