"Andy’s mixing is tight with a very fresh track selection" – FUNKAPELLA, BRISBANE
Andy’s passion for music started at a young age as a bass player in various local bands in his home town of Stoke. It was here on a night out where his first introduction to house music took place at the legendary Shelley’s. Regular weekend jaunts followed to see DJ’s including Graeme Park, Sasha and Carl Cox.
Following this, a move to Manchester took place during the early nineties as Andy enrolled on a university degree course. Here he began to immerse himself in the city’s rich music scene, regularly frequenting infamous clubs such as the Hacienda and later Sankeys Soap, where he could listen to DJ’s such as Frankie Knuckles, Derrick Carter and Danny Rampling, whom all have had huge musical influence on him. It was from here that Andy took his first steps into djing, searching record shops for the sounds coming out of Chicago and New York, particularly on labels such as Strictly Rhythm and Subliminal. Shortly after this Andy began putting on one-off nights in the city. From here, he became a regular on the Manchester student scene playing at various nights at renowned venues such as the Music Box, North, Fat Cats, Revolution, Kro and Dry Bar. In his sets expect a strong element of house in all its forms from deep to jackin’ to acid to progressive, packed with plenty of vocal jams.
As Andy slowly began to develop a reputation for his tight mixing skills and layering of sound, he was contacted by Yousef whom invited him to play at Circus, Radio 1 club of the year at the time. Following this and recent gigs Andy’s reputation has increased as he has played at various club nights across the U.K In addition to this the funkapella crew, a Brisbane based DJ collective, heard one of Andy’s mixes and signed him up to their online monthly house magazine to host May 2005 international guest hotmix. This was followed by live mixes for both Homegrown Sessions show on Pulse Radio hosted by Adam B and Tom Golden and the Inbetween DJs show on DJ Source Radio.
In addition to his djing skills, Andy made the logical progression from the DJ booth to the Studio and began producing his own tracks, the first of which (ya feel) was signed to UK based deep house label 3am recordings. The follow up to this (out of Kontrol) was signed to Germany’s Tri-Circle Recordings and received massive support worldwide entering Juno Download charts Top 25 singles. .
2007 saw Andy return to Australia playing several shows along the east coast including the famous Family nightclub in Brisbane. Back home in the U.K also joined the Stylus team in Manchester as pre party resident playing alongside the like of Karizma, Jimpster, Ashley Beedle and Nathan Coles.
